I am really fed up of watching the way Indian soap operas depict Indian women.
I am actually an Italian-Canadian female who loves Indian culture and this is why I watch Indian television.
Howeeever...these soaps make women look so petty, immature and jealous.
So while the men are off to work, the women stay home and hide rotis from each other?
I don't think so. These soaps make a mockery out of the role of the housewife and mother.
I am working now but I remember being home and even without children, I was always so busy with household chores and family obligations. Why can't they show these women doing more at home then playing stupid kitchen pranks and eavesdropping one each other's conversations?
Let's not even get into the issue of how mothers in law are depicted!!! All sasumas (sorry about the spelling) are psychos who are possessive of their son?
It is really becoming tedious to the point where I am about to cut off my Indian television channels. I am not a part of the Indian culture but I very much doubt that the above is what is going on in Indian households. From the point of view of a foreigner, it really does not portray a good image.
Indians stand up and fight for yourself, not a good look...Complain to Zee Tv...this is insanity
