While Rudra may be a Rakshak, till now he has a Rishta with death!
Wherever he goes, death - voilent, tragic, unnatural death follows - from that explosion on the bridge when shiva was captured that killed so many innocents I am sure, to the whole of khoye paye pande's family, to Maimui's gruesome death or Udiya babas torturous one, Rudra has been a kind of messenger of death!
While to an evil force, like balivesh, killing of an innocent will be simply a way to removing a hurdle in their way, and killing of the enemy a victory, for a good man, like Rudra, every death that he is ditrextly or indirectly responsible for, will be a paap that has stained his hands.
That's why I always think of Rudra as a man with blood on his hands, because he feels cursed by all the death and destruction that follows him wherever he goes!
I do not think of him as Lady Macbeth no, more like Samrat Ashoka - who after the yudh is over, will mourn at the lives that were lost, and the price of pain and suffering that was paid to win!
I also think of him a little like Arjuna, who will not want to choose between apnon ki raksha, ha dharma ki raksha... A reluctant warrior
so, Rudra has blood on his hands, because he is a good man, and hence every bloodshed, whether done by him or not,whether of a friend or foe, will leave the splatter on his hands...
He may be a a saviour in the bigger scheme of things, he is also a messenger of death... and I think, once the war is over, Rudra will not rejoice that he has saved the lives of millions by preventing amrit from falling into wrong hands, he will mourn the hundreds who died because of him!
