Shot in the dark: Financial crisis forces filmmaker to seek bank loan

This well known filmmaker, who used to give his contemporaries a run for their money with his many box office hits, does not seem to be lucky as far as his business prowess and managerial skills are concerned. The producer-director is going through a big financial crisis and is contemplating applying for a bank loan to ensure the smooth running of his office.

Says a source, "The producer-director has incurred several losses as his recent films have tanked. He was trying to recover the losses by collaborating with other banners and has consulted a few banks for a loan."

The person in question, who is credited with launching many a talented artistes, has also announced a big budget film with big names as part of the cast.

Aditya Chopra?? Some flops recently and the next is SRK also Salman is planned. But a financial crisis i dont really think so.

Sounds like Kjo...recent films haven't tanked though but they've been joint productions so maybe he didn't make that much money...not surprised though on the producer's roundtable he hinted at not actually having that much money...that's why he promotes the soty trio so much they're costing him less

Which of Karan Johar's recent films have tanked though? Unglia is the only one I can think of.

I'm thinking Adi Chopra since has had a bunch of flops lately.

they're probs just talking about ungli tanking...aditya chopra hasn't announced any big star cast film at least not officially whilst kjo has announced adhm with ranbir, aish and anushka...doubt yash raj is suffering financially they have plenty of methods of income

I remember on that roundtable he said he was not going to back any small films like The Lunchbox in the coming future because he does not have the money to do so.

Most recent flop he had was Ungli. Before that it was Gori Tere Pyaar Mein in 2013.

Yeah exactly i remember seeing another interview awhile ago when he was asked why he signed rohit shetty and he pretty much admitted it was because he needed a big blockbuster cause he had overheads...kjo's always spent lavishly i'm not surprised he's running into trouble now

YRF hardly collaborates with other banners, nor have they announced a big budget film with big names. ... but KJo hasn't had flops recently, unless he hasn't recovered enough money from 2S, HSKD, YJHD to overcome the flops he did have.
