Sonu Nigam Returns on Indian Idol

The name of the celebrity guest was kept under wraps. The contestants had no clue what was in store for them, not even when the hooded figure walked into the sets. The thundering applause greeted Sonu Nigam when he stepped out on stage. Sonu seemed happy to be back on the platform that was his domain for two seasons. He said it felt like coming home.

The contestants couldn't believe their eyes. If there was one thing Emon Chatterjee ever wanted in life even more than winning the Indian Idol title it was to meet Sonu Nigam. Sony Entertainment Television takes pride in making dreams come true specially for the contestants of Indian Idol. So Sonu flew in all the way from the US! If Sonu's presence was missed on Indian Idol 3, then he made sure he made his presence felt!

Sonu and Emon came face to face on stage after Emon's spirited performance of Sonu's hit song Tu. Once together they set the stage on fire with their mimicking. Both took turns to mimic the judges. Later Sonu joined the judges and critically analysed the singing of the contestants who gave their very best before the singer they consider their idol. He thought Puja's rendition of Shubha Mudgal's Ruth saawan ki was very good while Javed Akhtar publicly asked her forgiveness for his past comments about her singing. If Alisha thought Puja was better than the original, then Javed said the same about Chang's performance. Ankita performed like she was born to the stage After hearing Prashant, Udit Narayan declared that the fight for the title just got tougher. Amit once again walked away with all the praise.

The evening began with yet another surprise. Alisha Chinai took the stage to perform not one but two of her hit songs Made in India and It's rocking .The judges declared her the Indian Idol!

With so much excitement in store you simply cannot miss the next gala round of Indian Idol on Friday at 9 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television.

It Was Magic on Indian Idol!

All of his young life, Emon Chatterjee has been a die-hard fan of singer Sonu Nigam and continues to be so. Few know that Emon has his walls of his room, back home in Kolkata, plastered with posters of his role model. He has always celebrated Sonu's birthday with a cake. To him Sonu Nigam is God! All he ever wanted in life, even more than the Indian Idol title, was to meet Sonu in person. He had dreamed of performing in front of his idol when he auditioned for show. To his bad luck, Sonu was not available to be one of the judges in season three of Indian Idol. Although disappointed, he hoped to meet him in Mumbai. Even that seemed impossible as Sonu stationed himself in the US of late. All eyes were on Emon when a hooded figure walked on to the sets to the tune of Kal ho na ho.

Emon hoped it was Sonu, but wasn't Sonu Nigam in the US?. When the hood came off and Sonu stepped into the spotlight Emon simply couldn't believe it. Immediately after, it was Emon's turn to open the Gala round. He sang Sonu's hit song Turight there on stage before his God. Sonu paid him the biggest compliment ever. "I don't think he copies my style of Singing! He sings in his own original voice and it is great!" Emon's happiness knew no bounds.

What followed next was amazing. The guru-shisya Sonu and Emon took turn to mimic the judges. With Udit Narayan personally telling Sonu (who mimics the senior singer to perfection) to mimic him to his face! Sonu and Emon brought the house down with their antics. So impressed was Sonu by Emon that before leaving he gave him a memento, a picture of a deity he believes in and without which he never starts a recording. Here's hoping Emon will soon go to his first recording.

Emon's dream has come true. Sony Entertainment Channel had made it come true for him and it is a day he isn't going to forget as long as he lives.
