she's the girl who would put on her mother's clothes as a child and play pretend.

Sanam was a national swimmer in school days and participated in long jump and high jump competitions.

Sanam hail from a family where nobody else had ever been involved in the media.

Even being a famous actress as a daughter, she has her share of chores to do when at home.
sanam tells me(interviewer) that she has dishes to wash right after our interview (a comment that makes me laugh).

She says her prayers five times a day and fasts during Ramzaan. She has a little pocket janamaz and dupatta that she keeps with her on set or on the go.
"To each their own. I'd never im-pose my religion on someone else,"

She confess there was a time when I would be watching TV with my Nani and would quickly switch the channel every time I appeared on screen.

During photo shot she poses in front of the camera effortlessly and is mesmerising in her splendor. Midway, she stops, starts giggling and confesses "I haven't done this in so long. I actually hate being in front of the camera."

Sanam says I still take a rickshaw if I don't have a car. I'm not going to wait around.I ask the chowkidaar to get me a rikshaw, wrap a chadaar, and get in.What's the big deal? Women across South Asia do so. I don't think it's unsafe. They're much safer, in fact. You can jump out or call for help. It's definitely safer than a taxi or a random driver dropping you.

The supremely talented and versatile Sanam Saeed is a British born Pakistani actor, model and singer. When she was 6 years her family re-located to Pakistan in 1991. She did her O-Level from bay View High School, Karachi and her A-Level from L'Ecole College. Even as a child she loved acting and participated in school plays. Her passion for theater began during her school days and she has been associated with theater since then.

She started modeling when she was 16 and has appeared in many commercials. She has won L'Oreal Paris Award for Best Model. She was L'Oreal brand embassader.

She accidentally stumbled into VJing when accompanying her nervous friend for an audition, stood with her and got a pilot shot done which got aired and she landed up with a job with Indus Music TV Show, Cafe Current. She and her friend were in a league above all the other presenters at the time.

After her VJing stint Sanam moved to Lahore to study at Beaconhouse National University where the pioneers of television and theater were teaching. Sanam was the member of Black Fish', one of the first improvisational comedy troupes in Pakistan. It was a standup comedy. She landed the role of Roxy Hart in Made for Stage Production's play Chicago' in 2009. After that she went on to play Rosie in Mamma Mia' alongside Kiran Chaudhry and Joe Viccaji.

She was the back-up vocalist in Coke Studio' season 3.

Sanam's first foray into television was in a sitcom named Saath'. It was written by Mashal Peerzada and co-produced by Adil Sher and Nasir Khan (of Talking Filmain). Though the play wasn't great, what is interesting is that, Sultana Siddiqui, the president of HUM TV, had noticed Sanam in it and she had stayed on her mind. And years later, when Umera Ahmed insisted that Sultana Siddiqui direct' Zindagi Gulzar Hai', Sultana knew Sanam would be perfect for the role of Kashaf.

She is a philanthropist and believes that as a celebrity it is her social responsibility to give back to the society as she feels that her celebrity status could help in drawing attention to social causes.

She says, "Everyone may not pay attention to the incredible work that some people are quietly doing, but they will pay attention to celebrities. We do have a social responsibility and it is important to be aware of that. We can spread awareness and social messages because of the fact that we are familiar faces to people, we are relatable to people through some of the characters we play." She further says, "In the long run, I hope that my work pays off in the bigger picture and that as a celebrity I am able to contribute to society through these wonderful organisations."

On the personal front, Sanam tied the knot on 2nd January 2015 with her childhood friend,
a Lahore- based banker Farhan Hasan, now settled in Dubai, and left many a male heart broken.

It was Sanam first performence as a lead actress. Sanam played the character Shazia a rebel ,out spoken college girl to a troubled wife who face domestic voilence but fight back for her rights. Sanam character Shazia received critical acclaim.

Sanam said in a interview with Paper Magzine

Sultana Siddiqui's romantic drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai an adaption of Umera Ahmad's novel .she was cast as Kashaf Murtaza, a very sensible and matured girl, comes from a middle-class family background marked a departure from the glamorous characters that she had a reputation for portraying. Zindagi Gulzar Hai is one of the biggest blockbuster dramas in Pakistan TV history and created a sensation when it was released on the Indian TV channel Zindagi TV in 2014 and has been doing exceptionally well, wherever it has been broadcasted. Sanam immortalized the character of Kashaf with her brilliant portrayal and it won her a lot of appreciation, accolades and awards. Also her very realistic and natural chemistry with Fawad Khan, playing Zaroon, created quite a rage and they are considered one of the best on-screen couples.

She also performed in another Urdu play titled Khel ek Raat ka' in 2013. It was a post-modern play based on real and unreal situations around us. Sanam portrayed one of the two nameless character who share moments of nostalgia and anger in the mind games they play on each other.

In 2014 Sanam once more took to stage with another Made for Stage production Grease', where she came up with another commanding and praise worthy portrayal as Rizzo.

Musical Carrer

Saeed had briefly appeared in third season of Coke Studio Pakistan where she sung songs "Alif Allah (Jugni)" by Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi, "Aisha" by Amanat Ali and "Chori Chori" by Meesha Shafi as a backing vocalist.

Sanam was a part of Coke Studio season 7, but there were some technical issues with the songs and they needed to redo the song, unfortunately because of busy schedule, Sanam Saeed and Zoe Viccaji couldn't continue it.(Sanam Saeed will be back in next season hope so)

sanam is a actress who brought about a women empowering of sorts in Tele industry with her powerful roles Kashaf,Bibi,Sania,Minah those performences are etched in our minds & always be unforgettable ... she don't play the characters she live them ..
Sanam is a very exciting and arresting actor to watch on screen. She brings in such variations to each of the character she portrays. When she portrays emotions, her emotions are according to the character she plays or the situation she is in. Whereas most other actors when displaying emotions do it in one particular way only. But such minute details tend to be overlooked by audience in general. But hats off to Sanam to incorporate these details when she plays a character. And as I said before, Sanam does not act, she lives the character! It's no wonder then, when, whether veteran actors or her contemporaries, are asked to name one actor who is the best, they name Sanam Saeed!
Just a short analyses of some of the characters she has portrayed.

KASHAF

A character which become inspiration to many girls.every girl had a kashaf inside her.
Kashaf was much more than a bitter, pessimist, ungrateful, rude person. She was extremely vulnerable, sensitive, insecure, easily hurt, helpless, caring daughter and person and such characterization of a female lead was intriguing. The makers took a big risk in showing such a characterization and it could have easily back-fired if it lacked the brilliance of Umera Ahmed and Sanam Saeed.

Also when her struggle phrase ends and she becomes a successful professional and later still, gets married and starts falling in love, there's a subtle softness that creeps into the character, that sanam has done brilliantly.

BIBI

She portrayed the talkh (bitter), aloof, someone always an outsider, on the fringes , helpless and strict yet loving mother Bibi wonderfully. Her ramrod straight back and faraway look in her eyes portrayed beautifully a troubled person.

Sanam played the chracter of Bibi a girl who've strained relationship with her family being a girl child she always faced rejection & never ending comparision with her brother.Later grownup being a woman in a man's world she suffered and been abused but she stands for her self.

the character Bibi will pierce your soul & heart you will feel love dislike and also sympathy.
Bibi evokes such feelings that one wants to remove all that pain from her life & filled it with love & happiness on the other side, shake her badly to make her understand that the love path is no longer hers.

FIZA

She was the selfish, jealous, insecure, self-obsessed and spoilt Fiza in Daam and though I had read that it was her first show and she wasn't that good, but I found her spot on as Fiza. Yeah her dialogue delivery did seem a tad rushed, but that did not really hamper her portrayal. And I was so sure that I wouldn't hate Fiza because it was Sanam who was portraying her, but believe me, I hated her and was irritated by her total disregard and lack of concern for others. Hated Fiza, loved Sanam as Fiza.

SANIA

IMO the closest she came to portraying an abla nari was as Sania. She portrayed the patient, silent, reserved wife, the loving and caring mother and the wronged woman in Shukk. There is a lot of calmness/ theraav to her this character and usually such kind of portrayal tends to get overlooked. But once more sanam was bang on.

SHAZIA

As Shazia, they show her rebellious, outspoken, emotional and a person who wears her heart on her sleeves and after marriage, a strong taking-no-crap kind of wife, who loves her husband but at the same time is not ready to accept his wayward lifestyle and firmly stands up to him.Shazia is the character after which sanam decided to take women empowerment roles to put her share in changing society.

MINAH

Sanam reminds me SRK of Darr & Bazigar as Minah .She portrayed the psychotic Minah, who is totally remorseless and would go to any level to take revenge against her dad, his wife and children, very well. Her evil laugh and grudge filled vengeful eyes just lend credence to her character.Sanam as Minah in Kadurat carried the show on her shoulders.

PAYMAAN

As Paymaan she is the be-rang and be-jaan/ colorless and lifeless person due to the way she has been brought up. Sanam herself said that it was challenging portraying Paymaan because though she had to portray her as berang and bejaan she had to ensure that she didn't make her a boring person and hats off to her skills she was able to portray Paymaan in such a way that her character interests you.

KAHI CHAND NA SHARMA JAAYE

In the telefilm Chand Kahe naa sharma jaye', she portrays a double role and in one of the role she portrays a male character. Portraying a guy can be so dicey. Yet she portrayed Shameer with a lot of confidence and with all mannerisms and unconscious gestures of a male. Not only did she perform 'Shameer' with all manly mannerism, but when, she, as the sister, disguises as Shameer, then her body language, gestures, looks were those of a girl disguising as a guy...such subtle variations!

The real thing she earns from her performances , coz what she wants to achieve from her work is exactly this more than appreciation, praises, for which she is no doubt damn deserving , the change she wants & makes in the narrow minded society is commendable.

Sanam starred in Mera Naseeb and Mata-e-Jaan. Sanam tries to give back to society in her own way. Sanam Saeed is not only one of the finest actors, but a very fine human being too. She is a reluctant super star and a very un-celebrity like celeb and from fan's anecdotes of their encounter with her, it is evident that she does not take her stardom seriously.

Samannn Bangali met Sanam on UAE airport

I was on a flight to karachi and saw a girl in black pants ,red Kurti, no makeup , hair tied in a bun and a scarf around her neck. Speaking to the air hostess about a hand carry she had. I recognised her it was sanam . Most people did not realise it was her as she blended into the crowd very well.( no attitude).

When we landed I she she was in front of me coming out.
That's when Zayd ( my 12 year old) also recognised her !! We stood in the immigration and Zayd requested for a pic... She obliged.. That's when people realised it's her and few came to ask for pics/ autographs... . She came and stood behind us and smiled.. ( Zayd can be v talkative at most times ) so he started .. " how does it feel to be a star and when the paparazzi follows u.?) I couldn't help but smile... She seemed taken aback.. And replied well its nice unless they really get close or touch u... :)

We kept standing it was along line .. After sometime Zayd started again ...

Sanam is reserved and is highly guarded about her private life. When pestered relentlessly by fans to be more active on Twitter, she has said that she isn't very communicative and to accept her as she is and though not comfortable, tries to share as much as she can.
