Sunday Dhamaka: Does segregation still exist in Bollywood?

😊 This might be a controversial Dhamaka, but I am open to the challenge. Bollywood still has a long way to go to treat men and women equally. There are still discrepancies in pay and equality. We have Hrithik making over 20 crores per movie. Kitty Kat makes less than 10 per movie. And also what about South Indians and Pakistanis who want to make it in Bollywood? People like Fawad Khan are the butt of jokes on this forum. He will never be given the same respect as a Ranbir. And what happened to Madhavan? He is not given many movies because more lighter actors are preferred? Sad to say, these are many examples of segregation between sexes and races. I hope this topic doesn't go in the wrong direction. But please post and share your opinion on this. 😲 This will also be posted in Debate Mansion as a crossover topic as well.

Good topic
Segregation in Bollywood will remain as long as it remains in every society.
Men and women will never be termed equal in the true sense of the word.Women would always be paid lesser than men
There's no retirement age for actors but actresses will always be called 'old' after they cross 35 and will be expected to get married or leave Bollywood.
North indian-south indian biasedness will always remain.I don't think any south indian actor or actress will ever get a chance to be successful in Bollywood no matter how talented they are.
This is sad but true.

Segregation is also prevalent in other countries to. Bollywood takes the cake. Actresses will complain about their pay. South Indians and Pakistanis have to stay in their place. Sad.

I agree there's gender inequality everywhere..but in Bollywood it has to do with business. Like people have already said a solo DP or Kat movie in general wont do a bumper business unless the movie has solid content.
About Madhavan or heros from other province not making it big in Bollywood, we are accustomed to certain style of acting and look wise also we expect certain kind of appearance. Personally, I find south indian heros overact except Kamal Hasan or Madhavan. Its not about skin colour at all. I don't think Shahrukh Khan or Amitabh Bachhan are typically fair.
And Fawad khan is not half talented as Ranbir Kapoor so why would he command similar respect? He is lucky to get a chance in Indian industry when most the Indian people find it hard to get into it

No there is no segregation in BW...and I wish people would stop looking at BW as a Govt. Organization or a charity organization...because it is not one...its purely business...what is in demand sells more...if anyone is to blame its the audience and not BW...BW just does what any business would do...worry for their profits...

Should a Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor be paid the same for PRDP?...Isn't it obvious that 99% of the money that PRDP will earn will be because of Salman??Where is the discrimination here...more starpower...more pay...simple...its not like Salman and Sonam are working 9 to 5 in a company as Programmers...doing the exact same job...and the benefit that the company is getting from them is equal...hence their pay should be equal...but in PRDP...the producer is benefiting much, much, much more from Salman than Sonam...so a difference in pay is justified...the day Sonam and Salman start bringing equal revenue for the producer then a difference won't be justified..

Same formula applies to dark color...Pakistani actors...South Indian actors...its not that BW doesn't give them a chance...its we who REJECT them...BW cannot keep on casting people who the audience doesn't approve off,...whether its North Indian, South Indian, Fair, Dark, Indian or Pakistani...they are not the culprits ...we are..

Oh c'mon, Big screens r ruled by men... small screens ruled by women. We guys dont don't complain too much why the idiot box have all the serial killers in which women play the domestic politics and men r just statues.
Its all abt the target audience.

PS- I feel laughing when there r so many arguments abt Actress' starpower. Therez none since Madhuri retired.
