Lately, I had been wondering why do people strongly follow some people in the bigg boss house and mock others despite their best behavior. I even created posts on the same to understand and then I had a discussion with an IF member Nehlove and she raised a point which made perfect sense.

I was clearly biased towards KT-UP and find Gautam overbearing but after reading this point it made me think. This point answers even my question.
So what happened was, I started watching Bigg boss from week 11...Bigg boss party under Karishma's captaincy. From that time onwards, it was KT and UP who were cornered and bullied by P3G members and bashed by Salman during weekend ka war. I used to feel bad for them because let's face it Salman looked so clearly biased.
Later I watched the whole season from the start but I was clearly biased towards UP and KT and loved their friendship and their fight against the world and so on. I could never sypmpathize with Gautam because of my first impression in week 11. At that point of time he and his P3G gang were strong and bigger in number and appeared to be bullying UP.
First impression is last impression. And I think I now understand why Gulati's fan cannot change their stand because they had once supported GG when he was cornered just the way I once supported KT-UP when they were cornered. Because week 11 was the starting point for me vs week 1 for GG fans. And just like I find it hard to appreciate Gautam for his antics, they find it hard to appreciate UpMa poha or any dosa :)
Likewise, I believe, people who started with Halla bol, would 100% support Dimpy because she looked so cornered bullied and shed tons of tears. But others who had been following from earlier episodes might not feel strongly or even weakly for Dimpy. They would also think about her earlier actions before extending her their support.
Even when UpMa romance look kiddish I overlook, just the way probably GG's fan overlook Gautam's jibes, pokes and over acting because deep down we have our favorites and we like to stick to them no matter what.

good analysis and POV.
once you take a liking to someone, you tend to support them irrespective of the wrongs they do - mainly as a defense against the anti posts. its human nature. happens season after season.

@Bold: In this instance, this does not apply. I made posts supporting Gulati when he was isolated. After a while though, I got tired of it all.
So, first impressions may not always be lasting impressions - and why people respond to certain things differently cannot simply be narrowed down to the first impression.

Exactly.
And Gulati's first impression was pretty bad. He was unanimously disliked for starting off with the lotion massages with Diandra on Day two of the show, not to mention his attitude issues which were very evident.
I too supported Gulati in the second week when I saw that he was being unnecessarily targeted, which stopped once Salman bashed the HMs. But after the third week...he just latched onto that 'akela' jaap' and insisted on showing himself as the wronged one, picked up fights with Praneet for illogical reasons and showed himself as the perpetual target when no one really bothered him. It was irritating and pretty evident that he is using it to his benefit. 😕
So, no first impressions aren't always the last ones. Every contestant has shown a growth, except Gulati who is still stuck in his victim nonsense. People can see through that, those who want to.
I immensely disliked Karishma for the first few weeks. But I find her ok now as she has shown herself as a very strong woman who took on bullies like Puneet, Gulati and Salman Khan.
So people's favorites do change and SHOULD change, as these contestants reveal more about their personalities (good or bad) in this game which tests them on so many levels.

@Bold: I know. In the episode in which KT insisted on Gulati's disqualification, and got everybody in the house to support her demand, I absolutely disliked her. I disliked Diandra for abandoning her lotion-leela-ka-saathi those days.
But all that changed when I started seeing what a perennial victim Gulati is... and I couldn't bring myself to like him anymore.

Most of the people like me who disliked Sonali at first started liking her when she returned as WC are now her fans...Sonali, Karishma and CG made me believe first impression is not the last impression..I liked CG initially but now dislike him..There are few qualities of our favorites that make us like them even after knowing their flaws...sometimes flaws overpower strengths..
