And Gulati's first impression was pretty bad. He was unanimously disliked for starting off with the lotion massages with Diandra on Day two of the show, not to mention his attitude issues which were very evident.
I too supported Gulati in the second week when I saw that he was being unnecessarily targeted, which stopped once Salman bashed the HMs. But after the third week...he just latched onto that 'akela' jaap' and insisted on showing himself as the wronged one, picked up fights with Praneet for illogical reasons and showed himself as the perpetual target when no one really bothered him. It was irritating and pretty evident that he is using it to his benefit. 😕
So, no first impressions aren't always the last ones. Every contestant has shown a growth, except Gulati who is still stuck in his victim nonsense. People can see through that, those who want to.
I immensely disliked Karishma for the first few weeks. But I find her ok now as she has shown herself as a very strong woman who took on bullies like Puneet, Gulati and Salman Khan.
So people's favorites do change and SHOULD change, as these contestants reveal more about their personalities (good or bad) in this game which tests them on so many levels.

+ 1 On everything.

My first impression of Gulati was not good at all. Found him arrogant, Cocky and full of nautanki but was still more or less indifferent towards him. Gaali incident happened and he redeemed himself a bit in my eyes. When he snapped at Pritam, I was hoping he doesn't screw it further ahead. But all his antics during the whole 'Gunali' phase left such a bad taste in my mouth which still hasn't left.

But keeping all this aside...I have admired him whenever I felt he did something positive or good.
Like say for the incident when he saved Sushant, that I found admirable. I also found it positively surprising when he joined in the celebration with the rest of the HM's during the dictatorship task in spite of losing the task. That was refreshing coming from a serial sulker. Now sadly these are the only two instances where I found him positive and slightly bearable. Rest of the time his antics are irritating to the core. But I did give credit where it was due.

In fact I was indifferent towards Gulati in the beginning...but he sure did manage to change my indifference to strong discontent and dislike.

Both P3GS ( as underprivilleged sewaks) and B gangs ( as host and panel victims) have been bullied one way or other...but how the individuals reacted to the bullying made the impressions with the fans.

Reactions
  1. Gautam, Ali & Dimpy have played Victims when bullied...hence mustered the support from host.
  2. Puneet, Karishma & Upen came back as fighters or rebels and have been at receiving end ( Punz got respite by virtue of his relation)
  3. Diandra, Pritam & Praneet played the compromising types.
  4. Sonali was oblivious ( one of the kind...admirable quality).

As a viewer...Everyone feels for the victim / isolated...the good old BECHARA INSAAN philosophy...Gautam, Dimpy & Ali have played it to the hilt ...Gautam has milked it the most....in my view these 3 are FAKE personalities ...and conning the audience. ...you can't ignore the obvious contradictions in their behavior unless you purposefully intend to.

Rest have been themselves, at the cost of being bashed for the negatives in their personality...eg Puneet is devious, Tanna is self- righteous and Rude, Pritam uses Sleazy language and appears shifty, Upen is shrewd and calculative, Diandra is insecure etc.

On the Forum dynamics ...there are three types.

  • Rational types- who are indifferent to all contestant and just view them on issue basis and bash them or praise them on merits of the issue.
  • Emotional types- who prefer to live in a make believe world ...justifying fake doom to glory...practically parenting their favorites.
  • R + E blend types - those who prefer genuine personalities over fake ...accept their favs as vulnerable humans and focus on the strength of the personalities ...eg Tanna is strong, gutsy and resilient, Pritam is jovial and like Upen very social and adaptable, Sonali was always unflustered besides being witty etc
Disclaimer - I don't give a hoot who wins the show...all are bunch of losers ...whom I will forget in a few weeks...so don't tag me as someone fanwa.

If your premise was true ...people would hate Salman and love Upen and Karishma ...because Salman steam rolled them every week...some of it was valid, most of it not...and just one way traffic...hence the bullying is more gruesome to bear

I generally find Tanna repulsive, but on UPMA issue I have to give her the credit. While most see the issue as Deceit, I see it as a conquest over Dilemna ... I admire Tanna's guts to confront an unpleasant situation and take a decision that will impact her popularity negatively ...Atleast she doing justice to her genuine feelings.
