TOI : Deepika Singh - It was my decision that Rohit should quit DABH

TV actress Deepika Singh, an MBA, has become the darling of the audience as Sandhya beendni with her serial, Diya Aur Baati Hum. However, apart from making news for her professional life, Deepika recently was in news for tying the knot with the director of her serial, Rohit Raj Goel. Ask her on how life has changed post marriage and she says, "Life shaadi ke baad actually kafi relaxed ho gayi hai. Kyunki ab koi tension nahi hai of refusing to go on a date or a break-up.Har insaan chahta hai ki uski personal life best ho. And mine is at present."

However, Deepika says that though she was dating her director, Rohit never gave her the leverage of being his girlfriend while on the sets. "On the set, Rohit used to be a completely different person. Mujhe kabhikabhi khud ko yakeen nahin hota tha that I am dating the same person. As a director, Rohit is very dominating, in a good sense, as he knows how to get the best out his actors. I had to be very focussed while working with him. Sab se zyaada daant maine hi khayi hai set pe as I was the only newcomer on the show. Maine kabhi nahi socha tha ki jiss insaan se main itni daant kha rahi hoon, issi se mujhe pyaar hoga aur fir shaadi bhi hogi. Post marriage, I dominate him. I nag him and this is so much fun," she says.

Ask her who proposed first in the relationship and she says, "Propose jaisa kuch nahi hua tha humare beech mein. Kahin na kahin mujhe Rohit ki taraf attraction hone laga tha. But I was too scared to have a linkup in my professional life. And 'coz of this maine apni feelings ko bahut control kiya."

She adds, "But then came a time when I was being linked to a boy . Rohit and I used go to Siddhi Vinayak every Tuesday together with friends. So after that link-up rumour, on one trip he clarified with me if I was actually seeing that guy. And pat came the reply from me, "Uski shakal dekhi hai. He is not my type of guy' So Am I then he asked me, ' your type? And I just didn't say anything and blushed. Mere dil mein toh waise hi laddoo phoot rahe thay."

However, nothing changed for Rohit post the proposal, says Deepika. "I had these questions going on in my mind the next day I went on the shoot like 'Will he scold me now?' 'Will his attitude change towards me or will people know about our affair?' But aisa kuch nahi hua. He was just the same man, scolding me. Above that, I had to shoot for these romantic scenes with my co-actor, which he used to direct. Main bahut confuse ho gayi thi ki yeh kya ho raha hai mere saath! And this continued for months where we didn't talk on the topic. But then we once again got time to interact on our visit to Siddhi Vinayak and then we we talked about each other's feeling," gushes Deepika.

The couple also made news when it was rumoured that Rohit had to quit the show as he was giving too much attention to his wife on the sets. "Of course Rohit's attention was on me 'coz I was the one who was being scolded the maximum on the sets, even after we got engaged. Sabse zyada insult maine hi seh rahi thi," laughs Deepika as she adds, "Jokes apart, it was a mutual decision that he should quit the show. I was not comfortable in bringing work back at home. It was my decision that Rohit should quit the show, also 'coz he had many offers for other assignments. Plus I didn't want people to say that he is partial towards his wife."

Deepika these days is also taking special care of her friend and on-screen jethani, Meenakshi, aka Kanika Maheshwari, who is pregnant in real and reel life both. So, is she taking lessons of motherhood from her?
"I don't need tips on motherhood from her as my till now my family planning is going good," she laughs out loud.
