Hello Everybody! Happy New Year!!😊😊🤗
Just got back from a longish winter break and have finally caught up with all the HS epis I missed. And read some of posts too. Including the latest that Humsafars is going off air and then the channel's rebuttal.
Good God! The things that can happen in the matter of a few weeks.
My mind is reeling so much that I am rather overwhelmed... by all that is happening in HS at the speed of light!😕😕
Most of the characters have taken a 180 degree turn and become somebody else... Sahir is still consistent. So are Alvira and Ashrafi. But Arzoo and Zaki (shaking my head in disbelief...)
I had to pen this in order to try and get some order to all my buzzing, clashing, confused as hell thoughts and impressions. Please bear with me and my random musings about these characters.
1) ARZOO - Poor babe turned confused babe - she has had her heart broken in a way no girl deserves and I can really understand her anger and rage and pain.
But WHY is she staying in that house - what happened to all that Lucknowi pride and jazz.
Alright she is being practical - no other place to go to with the family - after all Mumbai rents are rather steep esp for a junior designer. But WHY OH WHY is it necessary for her to marry one of the brothers!!??
I can understand her considering Sahir's proposal earlier cause she was in love and thought he loved her too. But Zaki - why even consider the proposal? Just cause your hopes are dashed with one guy doesn't mean you have to marry another fellow on the rebound. WTH😡😡
And the bracelet - return it girl... if you hate the man then why are you hanging on to that thing!?
Khair... chhoddo... she is going to be married to the dishy boss whether she likes it or not - so the above points are non-issues... but Arzoo is no longer that much of a khuddar girl for me. Rather a very badly hurt, confused girl who only wants to see things her way and is unwilling to see things from any one else's perspective.
Her loyalties and her hatred are not mature but blind... her loyalty to her family and Zaki is blindly strong. Similarly her hatred (like her love) is immature and blind. Someone had mentioned that Arzoo is not yet truly in love... that is going to happen later... I hope so... Sahir and Arzoo's character deserve that much at least.
Hopefully we will see Arzoo becoming more mature - instead of just tying knots and removing them all the time - and given the rate at which she is tying knots I think she will need longer duppattas in the future.
2) ZAKI - Friend turned pest - He supported her and not once did he bad mouth his very-much-in-the-wrong brother. And then he started proposing and he hasn't stopped!!!😕 Seriously - I can't understand how Arzoo did not once ask him to back off. And I really don't like his attitude of not even being bothered about the problem being faced by Sahir. He has lived all these years off his brother. Now he knows that Sahir is facing such a big problem but he is not even showing any concern. I get it that he doesn't want to marry Sam and wants to marry Arzoo. But at least show some concern.
Anyways... Arzoo is going to be married to big bro whether Zaki likes it or not - so the above points are non-issues... Whether he is Sam's child's father or not, whether Sam is preggers or not, whether he marries Sam or not - all are non-issues for us Humsafarians.
3) NAUSHEEN - Faint monster cum Fool - She borrows money from her sleazebag of a husband, leaves her traumatized daughter alone for the night with her friend's son, happily eats breakfast the next day while Zaki tends to her daughter!😕😕
All I can say or rather ask is... how is the kidney Nausheen? Can I please poke you real hard there?
😡😡😡
4) ALVIRA - Mum in absence - I like her cause she wants Arzoo and Sahir hitched. But in every other way she flummoxes me!
Does she not care about the truth at all? - Be it telling Arzoo about Zeenat. Be it telling Sahir about why she brought Arzoo to Mumbai in the first place. Or whether Zaki really is the father of Sam's child.
5) ZARA, ANAM, REHMAN, SAMAIRA, FARAH, SARFARAZ - The pack of villains - As long as they somehow cause Sahir-Arzoo nikah, I will put up with Zara and her selfishness, Anam and her malleable chin and lips, Rehman and his threats, Sam and her excessive foundation, Farah and her rolling eyes and sleazy Sarfaraz.
6) KURTIAPPA - the one with the mysterious mole - Nope I did not forget her. I just felt that she needed a separate point cause she did provide some light moments with her eyes and fingers and OTT over-confidence. I am missing her.
And last but definitely not the least...
7) SAHIR - Shark cum shayar cum Forum God - Ever since he confesses all his crimes (except the factory fire) to Arzoo he has become less evil. Thank God. He is now more clearly being picturised as one who is being pushed against the wall by all the forces present and now has no option but to do the things that he is doing.
Of course he doesn't HAVE TO marry Arzoo to get Zaki and Sam married... but we get it buddy 😉.
I know I am sounding like a stuck gramophone but I really love Sahir's character. It is so refreshing to see a man who is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants as opposed to some of the other guys on TV shows who take their mum, aunts, bhabi and wife's permission before they change their choice of beverage from tea to coffee.
What I really like about him is that while he may lie through his teeth to those around him... he is honest enough to not delude himself. He is willing to admit the harsh truth to himself... all truths except one of course (that is until recently - now even that is something he has sort of admitted to) - his feelings for Arzoo.
And I love how he talks to Ashrafi. I am so looking forward to the day when Sahir and Arzoo have a heart-to-heart talk - Sahir at his vulnerable best will be a dream come true... of course one hopes that by then Arzoo would have climbed off her high horse and actually make an effort to listen and not bite his head off.
Anyways - I am hoping Humsafars continues for a lot longer and we get to see more of SaaZ and their interaction and fights and bonding. Allah knows... our loyalty over the last two months deserves to be rewarded. 😊
