Imran Abbass...yes I have a negative opinion of him due to some of his old anti-India interviews. But I also feel an artist's work shouldnt be discriminated based on personal likes and dislikes of that person. As long as the person plays his character well. So I'll definitely watch Malaal.

Yeah, skip Fawad's AA and Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan for now 😆..and definitely try Daam and Malaal. Malaal's DVD discs are uploaded by this account called desi rants..and she has it uploaded as Malaal part 1, Malaal part 2 etc. So search for that and you'll get the DVD print.

I personally was never too fond of Imran Abbas on or offscreen either until I saw Malaal. He's really good in Malaal. I think the director and script just brought out the best in him because you end up adoring Jawaad and his portrayal had a lot to do with it. His character is also different than the typical male characters we tend to see in desi shows..so I feel you'll really like his character/performance Oh and his relationship with Zinia (the female lead) is adorable to say the least - the best part about the show in my opinion. And, Deepti Gupta's performance is flawless! The show is also set in New York..so that just makes it more refreshing.

I wish Daam had good links up..it's a masterpiece..but of course, we can't have everything conveniently available. 😆

ZGH's romance is something else in all honesty. However, there are other shows that have their own unique romantic backdrops and have that connect which you're looking for. I read in another thread where you mentioned that the reason why you're liking ZGH is because you can connect with the show..and for that very reason I'd highly recommend you give Malaal and Daam a try. I said this on the first page also and I know I'm being repetitive..😆..but Malaal and Daam will give you the same feels as ZGH in terms of depth and that emotional quotient. In my opinion, these two shows are even better overall when compared to ZGH because the direction and editing is at another level.

I know you're not so fond of Imran Abbas' offscreen persona from whatever you've heard/read of him, but I really hope you see Malaal for its content and performances. His character is adorable and he plays it so well. There's also an Indian American actress, Deepti Gupta, who plays the female lead, Zinia - she's absolutely amazing. The reason why I'm pinpointing Malaal is because Malaal's DVD discs are available on youtube. Daam is a masterpiece and a story about friendship and the price that comes with it. It has Adeel Hussain, Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Baloch as the leads. It also has a love story between Sanam Baloch and Adeel. It's available on youtube..however, Daam's DVD never released for some odd reason..and the episodes aren't that great in quality. However, if you can manage Daam's print, then I highly, highly recommend! Key is the writer of both these shows is the same as ZGH..her storytelling is just..different.

Apart from those..I think you may like Main Abdul Qadir Hoon. It's a spiritual show, has romance and good performances. Fahad Mustafa, the lead, is brilliant in it.

ZGH's directing and to some extent script failed sometimes. That's why Daam and Malal still remains one of Umera's best works although I think they didn't got much viewership.

I don't think ZGH's script really failed anywhere..however, I do think the direction and editing could've been slightly better in some places.

Daam and Malaal are wonderful. They are overall superior in my opinion because Mehreen Jabbar's direction is class and she happened to direct both these shows. Daam and Malaal didn't get as much viewership as ZGH or Humsafar...but, they are still fondly remembered for their sheer brilliance. In my opinion, it's not always about which show gets the highest TRPs. Daam however used to give tough competition to Dastaan when it aired. It ranked number one many a times.

At the ending point of zgh, the story didn't make sense.

Mikaal for some reason has hardly done a conventional love story.😆His stories are always so much more complicated than that.😆

Muhabbat Subh Ka Sitara is a show which has a love story...it also has Adeel Hussain. So, there are two male leads. I personally thought the show was okay in terms of story...but, you may like it Other than that..Mikaal is currently starring in a show called Laa..it airs every Saturdays on Humtv. The show is intriguing and different. Durre Shahwar is also an amazing show. It has Sanam Baloch and Mikaal. It's not a typical love story..but the show's really good. I also liked Mikaal in Manjali..but he plays a negative character there.

With Shehryar..he did Asmano Pe Likha. It's a love story. Also, Kahi Unkahi.

Thank u so much, that's really helpful 😃 I really hope they air Durr e shahwar everybody is praising this show, my cousins had watched it and couldn't stop going on and on about it, so I'm actually intrigued by this one. Will also give the other shows a try especially manjali, Mikaal in a negative role 😲 Wow that's something I gotta watch! Thanks again 😃

meri zaat zarra e benishan as kaisi ye qyamat...and now daam as keemat.

...many of Zindagi shows are hard hitting and serious ...and i feel they should also come up with some comedy show...and baraat series could be wonderful...i saw few episodes of dolly ki baraat and i just loved it...just hope Zindagi shows it soon.

I recommend Rehaai and Vasl from Shabz list.
Vasl because a large part of it is sort of close to reality, I've seen it happen.
And Rehaai is also very realistic and hard-hitting. It's going to be aired on Zindagi for 2015.
