He wanted to hear from her that she believed he wasn't responsible for plotting such a heinous crime against her...it mattered so much to him that knowing fully well what her answer would be he still persisted...he still hoped...
All that he did to push her away...all that he told himself about not falling in love...about not being worthy of love..not deserving love ...and that he wouldn't ever have her in his life...paled before tbe thought that she could think so low of him...he couldn't bear that and he wanted to make sure that he changed her thinking on this...at that moment nothing else mattered!
He had no way of convincing her...he had tried everything in an attempt to make her believe his love was false...so in desperation he did what she scornfully suggested...not thinking how it looked...not worried about appearing a fool...not caring that he had a paper cutter in his hand...he just wanted to so anything to convince her and hear the words from her!
And when she said it doesn't matter to her because of course he has tried this and more earlier and now she doesn't care at all what happens to him..he can cut off his neck and she will provide the knife...all that registered was
"Koi Farq nahi padtha"...
He was trembling from the effort of controlling himself..reining in his feelings...controlling the dam from bursting...
The shell he had built is a thing of the past...it won't be long before he breaks it himself...!
I didn't see any ulterior motive in that.scene...it was all about making her believe and making her say to him that she believed!
