"Raman I know you gifted them to me and I understand that but-"
"No buts Ishita you always let her get what she wants. The blue gown, the earrings and even letting her kiss me on the cheek! What kind of wife is alright with that?" He interrupted trying to get his mind around her twisted ways of goodness. Ishita still looked calm like she expected this question and was ready to give a lecture and had prepared for this all her life.
"Raman please listen you se-"
"No I don't seen! I told you that I didn't want to celebrate mine and hers anniversary but you still bought out a cake an let her feed me. I just don't understand how you could just watch!"
"Raman will you listen huh or will you just keep interrupting me not allowing me to explain"
His silence told her to go on
"Raman before we danced I had a talk with Adi. He said I was wrecking his family and I had no place. Then I remembered what you said about the family environment from the counsellors and how he had to have a sense of normality so I arranged the whole anniversary thing" she said with hopeful eyes. She studied his face it showed signs of disbelief, shock and his eyes had a small sense of anger in them.
"Raman.." She called out hoping to get some reaction.
"Ishita he is an 11 year old kid why pay any heed to his false accusations and it doesn't mean you need to organize something for me and my ex wife. God woman when will you learn Shagun isn't like you she's evil. She will try to separate you from me at any cost and giving her those earrings were like you were surrendering." He said tears forming in the corner of his eyes.
"Raman those earrings were beautiful but not as beautiful as the words you spoke to me in the morning. Nothing could compare to that and you saying you would only give me happiness that makes me more happy than a pair of earrings. I understand giving them to her were not ideal in fact none of this was but
I never meant to hurt you I just want everyone to be happy."
Raman was amazed at her selflessness for the sake of his happiness but he didn't need his ex wife to make him happy he needed her and Ruhi and their love.
"Not everybody can be happy Ishu. It's either you or Shagun and I would pick you any day even if you are crazy. Just promise me you will never let Adi manipulate you like that. He's just a kid he doesn't know what he wants, he's been poisoned by Shagun and doing stuff like this only makes him more confused."
"I promise Raman and I'm sorry I never meant to hurt you. I thought seeing Adi happy would make you happy."
"I only need one thing to make me happy and that's you, you crazy woman"
"Same here." She replied with a smile of contentment on her face. As they both drifted to sleep they both had smiles on their face dreaming of a happier new year full of love and contentment.
