I think you are underrating Haraharan the same way Abhijeet has been under rated. My feeling is that Abhi sang it well but he did not sing it better than Hariharan.

woah... lol I wouldn't go that far. Abhijeet is amazingly talented, no doubt about that. But not as good as Hariharan.. or rather, not comparable with Hariharan

But I did feel that when Hemachandra sang "Priyasi" the effect was better than Hariharan's. That's because Hariharan's voice is drowned by too much orchestration in the original song in the film whereas in the one sung by Hema, his voice was coming crystal clear.
