An upcoming track on a TV show, Humsafars is apparently based on the Delhi cab rape incident. It took place on December 5 in the capital, where a cab driver allegedly raped a 27-year-old.

The protagonist, Arzoo (Shivya Pathania), leaves the house on learning about Sahir's (Harshad Chopda) truth. She gets into a cab and tells the driver to take her to Borivali. The driver stops the car after some time, tries to hit Arzoo and forces himself on her.

Acknowledging the new development in the show, Shivya says, "We recreated a recent cab rape incident on the show. The idea is not to sensationalise the issue, but to spread awareness. When stuck in such a situation, a girl should use safety apps on her phone for help. In the track, I am shown using an app to inform Sahir of my location. Rape is a heinous crime, but the victim should not give up the fight. One should live with her head held high as it's the rapist, who's at fault.

I am glad this step was taken to create awareness among people. Hats off to 4 Lions for being able to show this type of scene on television and Hats off to Shivya for pulling off this scene.
It's time people started speaking openly about such things. The rape statistics in most countries are scary and it's about time we start being more vocal about it
