Well lets just wait for the galas to air before we jump to conclusions over the song. To me really it does not matter as long as she sings it well. They are given those songs by the producers and all they can do is try and best to do justice to it.

You know, in general, dhol bajne lagga is NOT a patriotic song. But, if u think of it abstractly (maybe how the song got selected in the 1st place) then maybe it can be patriotic. In the movie, like someone mentioned, it's about Anil Kapoor's character coming back home. If u think abstractly, it can be about a soldier coming back home too. Also, within the song, some of the words are about the gau itself. Love for one's homeland, whether it be for your own village or the whole country, can be considered patriotic. Here are the lyrics to the song. I wonder if those lyrics alone (about the gau) were used in selecting that this was a patriotic song.

Most of us here know that the songs are selected by the channel and that the contestants do not have much of a say.
Can we call dhol bajne laga an "unconventional" patriotic song?
Its a nice song, actually, Virasat is a very good soundtrack. I'm just afraid people will not like her performance since they do not consider it a patriotic song.

Anil Kapoor is the guest judge this week (but didn't he come for only five minutes? 😕) and most of the other songs are from Aamir, SRK, Hrithik movies. I wonder if that played a role in the song selection.
