how does one become a critic?

like is there any test you have to pass?

like auditions for movies so something to become a critic?

or any xyz becomes a critic?

I am asking coz I am being amazed with some mindless critics around and more than that the amount of bias they carry and their horrendous lists

also who is your favorite critic among the current ones? like the ones you feel are genuine and mostly right

I like anupama sen the most.

I agree with Masand and Anupama's reviews very often
Raja Sen is unpredictable
Mihir,Deepanjana,whole Firstpost hates BW commercial movies in general

All jokes aside.. You can open a YouTube channel..review movies.. It will be up to the viewers.. How many reviews and subsciption you get..

One can become a critic if they put aside their love/lust/cravings for an actor or actress and judge a film, technical aspects, creative team, story, actors etc on basis of their level of work

You cannot just adore a good looking Sid or Fawad to call yourself a critic. Many critics do acknowledge the good looking stars but would bash them if are mediocre actors with no screen presence or charisma either

I like Raja Sen as a critic. Though don't agree with all his reviews (eg: 3 Idiots, Action Jackson etc)

But like the he reviews most his films. Also like Rajeev and Anupama. These 3 are India's most popular critics. They just didn't become a critic like that. They have great background in journalism especially in entertainment/cinema area. Thats why these 3 got big platforms to showcase their reviews (Star World, IBN and Rediff)

I mostly agree with Masand. Like Raja Sen and Mihir as well. Doesn't agree with Anupama often.

I'm not reading critics reviews these days. As almost all of them are biased and have the 'chadta-suraj-ko-salam' attitude.

For fun.. I only read Deepanjana now.

This is so true!

If you are doing well, they will praise everything you do. If they like the kind of movie you have made previously, they will praise...if they don't, you can make the next classic and they'll hold their praise back (case in point: Akki).

Critics are useless in the first place...People should use their own common sense to judge a movie instead of depending on these 2 Rs pseudo-intellectuals..
