Has Salman Khan made peace with Javed Akhtar? Not really, though it seems the actor has made an exception for Marigold. According to unit members of the film, the producers almost replaced Javed Akhtar with another writer when they learnt that Salman wasn't keen on working with him. Salman wasn't exactly thrilled about the choice of lyricist, but mentioned that he was making an exception for Marigold and agreed to retain Javed Akhtar. Another unit member of the film informs, "Salman Khan agreed only because this film is not a usual Bollywood film."

It may be recalled that producer-director Ravi Chopra wanted to replace Sameer in Babul with Javed Akhtar, whose name was allegedly proposed by Amitabh Bachchan. But then, Salman Khan had put his foot down and even threatened to walk out of the film if Sameer was replaced. Sameer confirmed this, saying, "There was pressure on me to leave the film, initially. I told Ravi Choprasaab that I won't allow the film to suffer and was even ready to leave the film."

Javed Akhtar

Director of Marigold Willard Caroll when contacted, explained, "Marigold is a Hollywood production. We didn't take into consideration any differences that Salman may have had with anyone. Yes, we did discuss the issue of the lyricist later, but by then, Salman gracefully agreed to our choice."

Salman Khan has never worked with lyricist Javed Akhtar ever in his entire film career. According to industry sources, "The actor has done 71 films but none feature Javed Akhtar as the lyricist, which only explains actor feeling uncomfortable about working with someone who his father Salim Khan has problems with."

salman's father salim khan and javed akhtar used to work as ace script writers salim javed before their fallout somewhere in 80's i guess.they are most well known for sholay,deewar,trishul and many more super hits.

Hmm, I wonder what happened between Salim and Javed it had to have been bad for them not to be on speaking terms for years.

Oh well, I'm glad Salman put his differences aside and had Javed work on Marigold

I agree, Salman is not arrogant. I don't know what happened between his father and Javed, but it had to be something bad or hurtful that even Salim's children would refuse working with Javed.

he is repectful of his father. if somebody hurts our parents don't we all react the same way towards that person. its not arrogant at all.
