Chapter 2
The daadis were in the hall,chatting merrily oblivious to the forthcoming calamity.As they saw the duo descending down the stairs their smiles widened.Abhi's daadi said to Pragya's daadi,"They look so nice together.I am so lucky to get a grand daughter-in-law like her".Pragya's daadi replied,"Even we are proud that Abhi is our son-in-law".They exchanged a fond smile.
But Pragya was super tensed.She had to say the truth one day and the day had come.Even Abhi looked grim. Pragya slowly went to them,"Daadi I need to talk to you".Seeing the somber look on her face their smiles started fading away. Pragya said,"Daadi can we go to your room and talk?" Abhi's daadi did not say anything.She led them to her room.
"Daadi I..we have something important to tell you".She looked at Abhi who gave a slight nod.She wanted to run away.But now she did not have a way back."Now or never".She said in her mind.she closed her eyes,"We want to get divorced".There,it was said,she thought and opened her eyes.The ambiance in the room turned grave.Everyone except Abhi and Pragya were shell-shocked."wh-what did you say?" Abhi's daadi finally managed to speak.
"Daadi,what you heard is what we said".replied Abhi."But why?"queried Pragya's daadi.Before Abhi could say anything Pragya spoke,"Daadi we have tried a lot to stay together,behave like husband and wife in public.We have given many chances to each other but to no avail.We don't even speak normally to each other.We are just not made for each other daadi.We are tired of playing the roles of a happy married couple".
Both daadis were stunned.They couldn't believe their ears.Pragya's daadi heaved a sigh and said,"So you both want to go your seperate ways?Very well.But I am requesting you that please don't spill out the truth before Purvi's marriage.After the marriage you can do whatever you want".They complied. Pragya's daadi said nothing.She got up and was going when Pragya stopped her and said,"I want to go with you".She looked at her with a disappointed look,"What will tell your mom?" Pragya lowered her gaze.She replied,"I...I will not tell her anything--now".her voice was trembling.Her daadi nodded and went out.She turned and looked at Abhi's daadi who was sitting quietly on the edge of the bed.Sorry daadi,she said in her mind and left the room.
After sometime Pragya came down with a small bag.She went to Abhi's daadi and touched her feet but she did not say anything.She looked at Abhi.He smirked.She said no more.Daadi and she left the Mehra house.When Pragya was gone Abhi went back to his room with a vague feeling.A feeling he had never felt before.
