Ok guys lets get real... The movie DID underperform, even BANG BANG had a bigger opening day!!!!!

PK isn't even in the TOP 5 OPENERS! ANd there is an 18 crore gap on opening day between PK and HNY and Aamir is short 10-crores compared to his own Dhoom-3.

You all were hyping it up to be some big colossal movie that is going to shatter and break all records, how can you say this movie ISNT underperforming? Its an Aamir Khan film directed by Raju Hirani who you all refer to as some kind of King. Ofcourse people will say the movie has underperformed.

I am not saying the movie will be a flop or it will be unsuccessful- maybe it will have a better weeked, but as far as OPENING DAY is concerned, it HAS underperformed... I am simply commenting on the fact that everyone touted this movie to be some kind of revolutionary film that will shatter records and move mountains - but it didnt!

No it hasn't. It was never touted to do 40 crore on day 1 anywya. HNY's first day collection was a gimmick - that was done just to break records. But it could not sustain in the long run.

PK has much better WOM, so it will easily surpass all the films this year in terms of lifetime collections. And that's what matters.

Day 1 collection is all hype.

Lets be real

Focus on the genre

It is not an action movie like D3 or HNY to fetch those numbers on day one. Such movies are not instant starters..they grow and once they grow the f**k the collections of trash like bang bang and HNY. Follow the trend..lets have this discussion after 10 days. Saw how HNY crashed on day 2..it fell from day one..PK is following a rising trend..such movies trend differently..they gradually rise..so wait and then talk about performance..its too soon right now

D3 last year became the highest opener ever despite not releasing on a non-holiday. This year PK has done a few lakhs more than Kick which opened pre-Eid. It has obviously underperformed.

I feel pk should be compared (if any) with the likes of Talaash or 3 idiots. We cannot compare it to mass entertainers like HNY or kick #unfair

You're obviously ignoring the fact that D3 was not a standalone film. It is a franchise with its own huge following; calling it the most popular franchise in Indian cinema wouldn't be an understatement.

And then we have PK, a naked, alien looking hero, with no chartbuster songs and no holiday opening. Of course it would open less than D3.

Just because it has not broken records, does not mean it has underperformed.
