Deepali’s singing lacks spirit

I know her fans will vehemently deny this - but there is something lacking in her singing. In the early piano rounds, she was my fav among girls but gradually her singing began to lose sheen for me.
No complaints with her 'sur' but her singing is 'thanda'. Inspite of the dance movements she tries to put in, the zest/life/spirit/energy or whatever you call it is very clearly missing in her songs. I dont know if she sings it in a lower scale than the actual song and that makes the difference . The judges saw this only a couple of times with luka chupi and tere bina jeeya jaayena but i have felt this with some of the very peppy songs she sang as well paritcularly 'jab chaye mera jadoo' and 'mera piya ghar aaya' And it was the same with 'nimbuda' today.

sometimes her performances have lacked the right feeling (tere bina jiya, luka chuppi)...however, i wouldnt completely dismiss her as someone who lacks spirit...she has given quite a few memorable performances that have had the perfect feel...also, i guess it all depends on ones opinion...

well i dont know how to put it , wish i could describe it by singing . Just watch the video and observe the first line 'laaya baaraat laaya' in 'mera piya ghar aaya' and compare it to the original rendition , there is a huge difference. Most of her songs are sweet and everything but have that lullaby quality to them

Hmmm, another thing i noticed is how any topic about the quality of singing evokes fewer responses than topics on who/why/when had a crush

thats not true...just how many crush topics do u see around? its the positive topics that evoke more response...those supporting their faves, rather than criticizing...offcourse a few controversial topics do hold posters' attention once in a while, but most of the time its the positive ones...
