Many actresses of the Indian Cinema including Devika Rani, Nutan, Hema Malini, Smita Patil, Rekha, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai, and most recently Vidya Balan have been honored with the Padma Shri for their contribution to Indian Cinema.

I saw this petition going on for Rani Mukerji on being award this honor. So my question to this forum is what do you all think? Does Rani deserve this honor as well? She is one brilliant actress and has shown us a variety of roles and has succeeded as well.

If you believe she deserves this honor, please do sign the petition (if you wish of course).

it is not just about your act otherwise the likes of madhuri or aish would have never received it. Other things like your filmography etc also come to play and 70% of rani's work is plain trash- in short very inconsistent, gives an Aaiya then a Talaash. She also lacks class- so no, she may never get one or else they would have given her before VB as VB came later

In 1998 she was the hottest thing ever and peaked in 2004/5 with Hum Tum/Yuva/Veer Zaara/Black/Bunty Aur Babli = her golden era.
But she got so boring in 2006/7 and fell off the radar. However when NOKJ hit the screens she was back with a BANG!

Her performance in Mardaani was outstanding, and probably one of her very best. It's up there with Madhuri in Anjaam, Sridevi in Army and Rekha in Khoon Bhari Maang as a KICKASS female empowerment role.

She deserves the award right now as she has risen to the top, lasted at the top, fallen from the top, and yet climbed again and found a new presence and power. Go girl!

Nah, its too late for her. She should've gotten it in 2008.
I personally think that besides a handful of films, her work is crap! She may have hits, but some of her movies are just plain awful! She has max 2-3 standout performances. She was great during the Hum Tum- Yuva- Black- VZ period but after that she became a nobody.
Besides the acting - shes not that popular, shes not beautiful, she has no class and is living off of the Chopra surname. So really she has nothing to be proud about IMO.

If an actor needs a petition to get an award, then she isn't worth it.
