I am just making this post for a discussion seeing Karan's phobia of ghosts. Every rational person knows ghosts don't exist. But still faced with something unexpected we call it ghost. So why are people generally afraid of ghosts.
Is it really the ghost that is frightening them or the fear that their past actions can result in their punishment. When we see the frightened Karan is he really afraid of Divya's ghost or is it because he is afraid his rape of Payal is finally returning to haunt him.
Asking because if you see Shaurya and Tarun are least affected by Karan's ghost theory wheras Rishi is affected. He thinks about the past and the crime committed.
Is it because Karan and Rishi are those who believes a backlash can happen and Shaurya and Tarun belong to the category it doesn't matter what crime you do it will never affect you.
I feel the real reason Karan running behind daagas is the fear that he will get a backlash and yes people do belong in his category. People who have committed the crime and when they see something abnormal happening fears for their life and are able to connect it to the crime they committed. Such people do run for protection.
Yes they go to babas, daagas, temples etc etc. as if praying and tying daagas can save them. To some extent we can see this people regretting also what has happened out of fear. Just like Karan falling at Divya's feet telling I wont do anything like this in future. Spare me.
So I feel more than the ghost , it is the crime that is haunting Karan now and it is the fear that someone will kill him for that crime that makes him run from pillar to post. It is that fear that make him believe in ghost also.
So what do you think. Is it the conscience pricking that leads to ghost theory in people.

I think its the crime which haunts them and anything connected to that part scares them .The fear of being exposed and caught
For example, a child who is scared of giving exams has nightmares of numbers and dreaded theories . He thinks of this as ghosts which are coming to devour him ,basically, its a psychological feeling . This is rather small which may go away once the child is used to it . But , on the other hand if the child commits crime then it haunts him back . by crime it may be even a small thing such as copying . If he tastes success, then definitely he will indulge in malpractice and illegal methods as he grows up .

The success which they have once makes them repeat mistakes again and again , until one fine day they start feeling the crimes haunting them and they are given the name as bhoot, ghosts etc .

But , i was surprised that karan got affected by the ghost drama . He was the one who placed the bet in the first place and then he goes about seeking baba and dhagas . I have never seen a character like tarun or shaurya 🤢 Rishi is a big mystery .

The haunting can actually result in 2 things :

1. The haunted decides to give up 'that" part of life so that he no longer has to face nightmares. He decides to wash out his crimes and start afresh . This feeling will ensure him that he longer faces ghosts of the past or sleepless nights.

2. This is perhaps the worst which can happen , but some people do turn committing more crimes when faced with nightmares. They lose their balance of mind and sometimes it may even turn to them committing suicide .

@Sneha Karan is weak. Yes he is a playboy. But murder and all was never in his cards. But since he got into the rape thing with Shaurya he was forced to do many other crimes by Shaurya. He asks Shaurya even during Dev murder plan is it necessary. But Shaurya tells if doesn't comply he knows how to deal with him.
Karan is basically a loser type guy who just know to party and want a easy life that's it. So lot of things he is doing out of fear. In a way fear for his life. He is afraid Shaurya will kill him, Sakshi will him, Raj will kill him etc..You can see the fear in his eyes whenever he deals with evil trio.
Basu also does not want Shaurya on his feet till he comes to power and he too is playing safe. Because I feel they know the ruthlessness of evil trio and only the power can make Basu fight the Goenka's.
So Shaurya is already manipulating Karan a lot in the name of that rape case. So anything connected with that rape case I feel can frighten this guy. And that is what that has happened to him.

I agree with you both Shruthiravi and Natville - re: ghosts metaphorically representing Karan's worst fears coming true.
It also needs a certain type of character- / personality trait and upbringing in a person to react the way Karan does.
He has always hid behind others- perhaps his politician dad all throughout his life and behind Shaurya as an adult. He has not grown a sense of his own identity, has been under confident all his life, and has vicariously lived a 'daring' life through Shaurya. That is why he challenges Shaurya y to do the daring stupid acts that he himself does not have the courage to do. When faced with the fears of facing consequences of his daring act of rape ( under the leadership of Shaurya ), he reverts to being the little lost gullible boy who has no internal strength or resource to deal with this - because he has not developed these throughout his life. ( perhaps others always solved his problems for him!).In a sense he has not grown emotionally and psychologically.

That's why his fears get represented as ghosts - a child like explanation for everything that is scary and does not make sense ! And when he sees something that does not make sense it evokes further beliefs in his ghost theory!

WOW nice explanation bangles. You nailed it. Karan do not have emotional strength and is unable to deal with problems himself. His dad or Shaurya did everything for him.
@Sneha which is the movie. I watch quite a lot of tamil movies but don't remember this.

Bangles gave great explanation.
Karan IMO has no control. Ghosts are feared because of death, and unknown (death is a mystery to all).

Now you can kill or manipulate living witnesses, but what about ghosts?

No mantri baap or rich friend can help.

Guilt and fear are doing this to Karan.

Though basically this was the nadir of this show. Showing ghosts even as a metaphor is not done.

I do believe that ghosts exist as manifestations either of a guilty conscience, a fear or an unpleasant or frightening experience.

One day, one Indian lady got so angry at me and her angry expressions and her loud voice scared me so bad that one early morning, I woke up and saw what looked like her materializing near the edge of my bed. I was up off my bed so fast. Yeah, that scared the daylights out of me.
