had hoped to continue this into an OS but have too many ideas, and the whole MMS track filled me with disgust anyway.

here was my wish for how abhi would've reacted to the video that first night!

CONFIDENCE (MMS track AU)

Abhi watched the clip for the fifth time, frozen in disbelief. The rush of anger in his blood was deafening, and he'd completely lost all sense of place. His vision clouded with a red haze and his heart clenched as his mind tried to tell him what his eyes were seeing. The idea of Chashmish - his Chashmish, damn it - letting someone - that double battery of all men - touch her like that, there in their room, and the sounds she was making -

It was simply too much for his brain to handle, and in an instant he knew that he could not accept the supposed truth in front of his eyes. It didn't matter what it looked like - this was not a video of Chashmish and Double Battery getting intimate in his room.

She wouldn't do that.

And neither, come to think of it, would Double Battery. The man had all kinds of faults, but adultery was never going to be one of them. Especially not adultery with Pragya, of all women.

so this isn't a fun drabble, it's another one of those things where i start a fic but god knows if i'll ever really pick it up

anyway just imagine the day that daadi becomes the anti-abhigya-shipper - because she's fed up with abhi, disillusioned, and doesn't think he could ever be a good husband to pragya

so this is sort of like...if pragya was leaving after the MMS thing, upholding her pride or however you want to call it..

i don't think daadi would talk like this but i can't figure out how to make it sound better right now :S

and yes i know the abhi part should be longer...but this is what i do, inflict incomplete things on you guys :P

AASHIRWAAD

"I won't stop you from going," Daadi said. "Only I need to apologize first."

"What? No, Daadi -" Pragya hurried to interrupt, but Daadi talked over her.

"I am so very sorry, child. It was my mistake to think that my spoiled grandson could ever become worthy of you. I was selfish to think of his needs and my desires, when I should have known all along that he couldn't be your proper life partner. I don't deserve it but I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me for all of this."

Pragya hated to hear Daadi talk like this. And she could see out of the corner of her eye what it was doing to Abhi to witness this exchange. She tried to soothe Daadi saying, "No, no Daadi, please, it's nothing like that. There's nothing to forgive. Thank you for giving me a place in your heart and wanting me to be a part of your family. It just wasn't meant to be."

"Beta, you are sweeter than I deserve. I should have known better than to think Abhi would change, and I wish you weren't the one to pay for my mistakes."

"Oh Daadi - please - please don't be hard on him. If he's not right for me, I'm not right for him either. Everything he's done, he's done from a sense of duty and love. He's - he's a good man, Daadi, please don't blame him."

"No, my child. I understand why are you saying so but you must not leave under the weight of so many falsehoods. He has wronged you, and I have wronged you, and even if you don't hold that against us, you should."

"Daadi..."

"My dear, I just want you to know you have my blessings. I will hope and pray that you get all the happiness you deserve in life. The man that was made for you will find you and you will have a happy future. Just remember me to call me sometimes. You may no longer be my bahu but that doesn't break every tie between us."

"Of - of course, Daadi. You take care of yourself and remember that...everyone in this house loves you, Daadi, and if they have made mistakes they can make up for them too."

"Even when you're leaving, you're keeping my house together. Tu saach mein laankhon mein ek, aur main bewakoof hui tujhe aise halat mein lein aaya. I will make my penance to God, and it's more than I deserve that you don't hold it against me."

"Oh, Daadi. I'm so sorry. And I guess this is goodbye?"

"Yes, my dear, but invite me to your real wedding when it happens, so that I can give my ashirwaad. By then perhaps I will have eased the stain on my soul for causing all this."

Abhi had hated to hear Daadi talk about Chashmish marrying someone else, finding her perfect life partner. It was bad enough to have Daadi disappointed in him but to have her saying that there was someone out there better than him...it was beyond galling.

Abhi was angry and frustrated and confused and miserable. He had never once seriously thought about keeping Chashmish as his wife, but now that she was gone he couldn't seem to understand life without her.

He needed her back, for Daadi, and for himself.

A SHOCKING DISCOVERY

*abhi comes into the room and is looking to just chill and relax maybe watch some TV but not scary doll movies maybe some cartoons maybe some anime*

*he flops onto the bed and is about to reach for the remote but then he sees the ipad just lying there on the other pillow*

*he picks it up thinking he'll check pitchfork for the latest industry news, he likes to do that a few times a week and now's a good a time as any*

*he doesn't realize until he turns it on that it's not actually his, it's the new ipad that BB gave pragya for her bday*

*abhi didn't give pragya anything for her bday because they've only been married 4 months and he still doesn't really like her but he's kind of accepting that they will stay married for daadi's sake mostly he's trying not to think about it much*

*daadi made him give pragya a necklace but yeah he didn't get her anything personal*

*anyway he realizes it's not his when it turns on to show facebook and the newsfeed shows all these people he doesn't know*

*he realizes he is on chashmish's facebook!*

*because he is immature and does not have a good sense of boundaries, and because he likes mischief, and because he's bored, he decides to poke around her FB instead of, you know, respecting her privacy*

*he is SHOCKED AND APPALLED to see that her relationship status is "it's complicated" and his name isn't anywhere to be seen!! cheez it should DEFINITELY say "married to Abhishek Mehra since June" - that's what his says, or at least that's what his should say, or that is his says it but with her name, surely Aakaash has made sure some PR intern made the change for him...who manages his FB account anyway man it's been ages since he logged on...huh...*

*chashmish has 500 friends!! wow that's kind of a lot for a non celebrity...*

*whoa whoa whoa is that chashmish's PROFILE PIC? ummm when the hell did she meet barun sobti, why is she grinning like that, why does that tv lothario have his arm around her doesn't he know anything about maintaining proper distance as a celebrity, where are her glasses, how come he's never seen her wear a sleeveless shimmery kameeez like that in real life, WHAT IS THIS PICTURE IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING wait a minute advertising how did this become about advertising oh god*

*hey wait a minute who is this raghav chopra character who is showing up in her feed so much...likes a lot of her posts...hey there's a lot of pictures of her and this raghav and a kid...the kid is this raghav's little brother? ahh but they look like...like a cozy little family? wait what is happening what is this secret life chashmish has? oh these are datestamped 2012...it's the past...still who knew she was hanging out with this young single dad...jeez chashmish has so many secrets...why does this single dad look like an underwear model and dress like a lumberjack...chashmish has weird friends...this lumberjack sure had his arm around chashmish a lot too! but that's fine...the little boy was there...and anyone it doesn't make any difference to abhi who had their arms around chashmish two years ago...or even now...really he has no reason to care...*

*uff this double battery keeps posting boring political articles to chashmish's timeline what a bore...*

*hmm chashmish should have a wedding album right? girls always do that, put up pictures of weddings...and babies...no babies for chashmish of course but there should be wedding pictures..huh she only has six albums and none of them are recent...oh look there's a link to her instagram...*

*chashmish's instagram...haha she really likes the cross process filter she needs to branch out silly chashmish...hmm no wedding photos here either?!! but surely she was taking selfies...oh here's one, but's not hers, only bb tagged her...ok looks like all these pics are old...*

*wait...wait no! these pics...these pics are from this week! and those two are yesterday - oh my god oh my god!! CHASHMISH WAS HAVING TIRAMISU!!!*

*there are a lot of food pics...mostly dessert, some fancy lunches...so THIS is what chashmish does in the afternoons, huh, hang out in malls with - BB? is it only bb? she doesn't take pics of people only food...and so much delicious food...gosh darn it doesn't she know that he must always be invited to share tiramisu!!! it was one of the vachans ok maybe not tiramisu specifically but there was something about food with the first phere and if chashmish knew him at all she would know that he must be invited to share tiramisu!*

*wow as if it wasn't enough that she was having tiramisu without him she went and got gelato...waise stracciatella is his favourite too, good to know that they like the same thing, but looks like she went to a really faltu gelato place, he'll have to take her to his favourite...yes, they'll do that tomorrow, and he'll explain to her about sharing tiramisu with him...*

*and...maybe they can click a new profile pic...and he'll remind her to clarify her relationship status...and his PR intern can forward some glamour shots from the wedding to add to her profile so this raghav character is fully up to date on who she spends her time with now...*

*yes maybe it's worth spending a bit more time with chashmish on a regular basis, he can teach her how to use the other instagram filters, and they can practice selfies and taking pics of people and not just food...because it's people you make memories with after all...*

*there's really nothing he can do about double battery spamming her with boring articles though. her bad taste to stay friends with him!!!*

*abhi comes into the room in the evening to have a shower*

*passing the closet he overhears chashmish on the phone and he stops to listen*

*pragya: nahin bulbul i can't do that anymore, not after marriage*

*abhi wonders what it is she can't do anymore*

*pragya: of course i want to! you know how much i love him but it would just be wrong now*

*abhi thinking: love him? love who? ooh is she talking about me? what would be wrong?*

*pragya: uff ho bulbul it doesn't matter if your jiju doesn't like me, i don't like him either, but still it's wrong when you have a husband*

*abhi thinking: wait so she's not talking about me? she doesn't like me what is that supposed to mean everybody likes me! waise it's true i don't like her...well no it's not that i don't like her, she's alright, she just keeps doing stuff that i don't like, clinging onto daadi and causing problems for aaliya, yes, that's it, i don't like what she does, but that doesn't mean i don't like her...but who is she talking about that she loves??*

*pragya: you just go without me naa...i'll watch on tv. waise did you see he's going to do that shirtless stunt? i'm so excited!!*

*abhi thinking: damn right i wouldn't understand, why would she go to some crazy after party? and that too with some weedy swimmer type with so-called abs of steel, more like flabs of steel i bet, uff...at least she has the good sense not to go, that's one good thing about chashmish, she knows her limits*

*pragya: chal bb, i better go. have fun and tell barun i'm sorry i couldn't make it but i wish him all the best with his new movie!*

*abhi realizes she will come out and see him eavesdropping and hurries into the bathroom...on autopilot he starts his shower and the whole time he is thinking about how he can end this stupid crush...maybe he needs to take up swimming??? if he takes chashmish to the pool and she sees how fit he looks in a swimsuit she should forget all about that pasty skinny barun...waise what would chashmish look like in a swimsuit? hmmm...*

*abhi lovvves his chashmish*

*abhi is lattu/infatuated with his chashmish*

*their first valentine's day arrives and abhi goes all out for his chashmish*

*pragya thinks valentine's is just commercial foolishness but abhi ignores her opposition to celebrating the day of lurrrve*

*abhi whisks his chashmish off to a private resort for a couple-only weekend because when they are at home romance always gets interrupted by family stuff and for valentine's day he will not tolerate that*

*abhi sends chashmish into a bath - soap bubbles, candles, rose petals, scented oils, everything she loves for relaxation but rarely gets a chance to enjoy at home*

*abhi would like to join her in the bath, but they have all weekend, that can wait, he has other things to see to*

*abhi arranges the rest of the room and gets the last few things from room service. cake and pastries, check. champagne, check. huuuge box of chocolates that he will use as tokens with chashmish as the game board, check.*

*abhi turns on the soothing jazz music that he has discovered chashmish likes for some bizarre reason. it's not his thing but for chashmish he will leave it playing. at home it makes her less self conscious about...making...noises, and maybe here too it will help set her at ease*

*abhi is all about doing everything possible to set his chashmish at ease, because even after months of having a happy relationship together, she's still adorably shy*

*which is not to say she's inhibited, because she's not. in fact chashmish can be quite surprising. abhi starts drifting off into happy memories of chashmish's bedroom surprises*

*abhi realizes it's been a looong time and he's getting restless about waiting*

*abhi hollers "chashmish! everything ok!*

*pragya answers "mmm. just give me a few more minutes."*

*a few more minutes turns into many more minutes and abhi tries to be patient*

*he looks at the huuuge box of chocolates, which is open on the bed because when chashmish comes they will start a certain game they like. he thinks that maybe he can have one, chashmish won't mind, chashmish likes to share*

*so this hotel actually supplies really incredibly high quality chocolates, and once abhi has one he can't stop...he forgets that these are for chashmish and that they have games to play all night, and he keeps eating them because they are so damn good. almost as delicious as chashmish.*

*finally pragya comes out, with her hair just slightly damp because he likes that, and wearing the silly floaty lacy thing he bought in his favourite colour of green, because actually she likes that, it makes her feel extra sexy and daring and every little bit helps when it comes to dealing with her overwhelming and appetitive husband*

*then she notices that said appetitive husband has been indulging another appetite, and half the box of specialty chocolates is gone*

*she pouts in disappointment*

*abhi tries to apologize...notices the tray of cakes and pastries that he'd forgotten about because they were behind him..."here baby, look! chocolate covered cherries and strawberries, your favourite naa? i saved those for you*

*pragya glares and retorts "aap bhi naa! i know you left those alone only because they're fruit"*

*abhi blushes in apologetic shame*

*pragya pretends to be angry as she finally climbs onto the bed*

*she picks up a chocolate covered cherry, which is actually her favourite thing in the world but she knows he's not wild about them*

*she eats the cherry and it's delicious and her mood lifts a little, and then she realizes that he is looking at her that way. he has a thing about watching her eat chocolate.*

*she smirks and says "you couldn't wait for me to open the box naa? fine, that means i get to choose the first game.*

*his eyes widen because he knows what that means...and now he is gladder than ever that he ate the chocolates*

*faaade to black*

p: why are you shocked? you should be happy, you'll be free of me.

a: *stares at p in frozen horror*

p: you'll be free of the woman who kept a relation with another man while you were there, a woman you hate and can't stand the sight of

a: *heart is tearing in half, wants to scream NO IT'S NOT LIKE THAT, I NEVER WANT YOU AWAY FROM MY EYES, but voice is stuck in his throat*

p: she is herself going away from you forever

a: *suddenly his temper snaps and ANGER replaces HEARTBREAK, his blood beats in his ears and he is thinking not in a million years, this is not going to happen*

p: you got what you wanted, you should be happy

a: *growls* oh, should i? should i be happy, that you have destroyed my life and are now going for what YOU want?

p: *confused and surprised, eyes wide* w-what?

a: *angrily waves his arms and points his finger while talking* that video showed your truth so now you're leaving me for him, is that it? so easy for you to break your vows and walk away -

p: what? no, it's just that -

a: *standing with hands on hips, vibrating in anger - the heat flaring off him would melt ice cubes five feet away* BAD ENOUGH that you've been carrying on with him all this time - that stops NOW, by the way, i won't tolerate it, my wife sneaking around with another man -

p: you don't understand -

a: i understand everything! and what you want here, this will not happen. i'm not letting you go so easily. if you wanted to marry him you missed your chance!

p: but - but -

a: do you know who i am? DO YOU? i am rockstar abhi, and my wife - my wife - is not going to leave me for some scooter-riding double battery single power mustachioed weirdo! do you get that? not gonna happen!

p: abhi, please calm down -

a: *approaches her and grabs her shoulders* i don't care if you love him, i don't care about that video - you're mine now, mine!

p: *pulls his hands off her shoulders and steps back* enough! would you stop talking nonsense! you don't want me, you've never wanted me -

a: i do now!

p: - so this is all ridiculous and you should - wait, what? you - now?

a: yes! yes! i don't want to want you chashmish, you are the most impossible problem i have faced in my entire life, but yes, that is the truth! i want you! i want you to be mine and only mine so if you think i will let you divorce me to go to him, let me tell you you'll have to have me killed first!

p: *appalled by the suggestion* what! no, i would never -

a: because that is the only way you'll end up in his arms - while i live i will not let that happen

p: *approaches wild animal husband and gently sets her palms on his chest hoping he will calm down* listen - i was never in his arms

*super intense eyelock with them standing in each other's arms, eyelock lasts for as long as it takes for allah waariyan to play...not rabba ki karoon because mina doesn't like it :P*

*song ends and both slowly drift back to awareness*

p: *quickly drops gaze, looking down awkwardly*

a: *tips her chin up* so we understand each other? tum meri biwi ho...akhri saas tak... (you are my wife...to the last breath...)

p: *suddenly glares and then starts laughing* wait did you seriously just say that?

a: *pouts and looks at her with hurt eyes*

p: i had no idea you could be so filmy!

a: *whispers teasingly* the oscar goes to abhi mehra...for best non divorce...

p: *whispers back* the nobel peace prize goes to pragya mehra...for putting up with the most ridiculous husband in the universe...until the end of time...

a: 😃
