daily soaps in pakistan

yesterday i've been watching hum tv awards... i noticed der ws a different category for soaps... certain names i remember r chubhan, main hari piya and ek pagal si ladki... r dese soaps as famous as d weekly serials like zgh,humsafar etc... or r dese shows not popular?

Nope the shows you mentioned were not popular...no one even remember the names of these shows here.

ok... what abt other shows?... i mean r dese long running shows popular der?

The only soap they are showing on Zindagi is KASH MEIN TERI BETI NA HOTI" which is I think about 250 episodes. I dont think it did that well when it was aired in Pakistan.

As you know we have many channels here and they show there shows on prime time... but when Humsafar was on air... many people didn't watched any other drama during Humsafar air time...

so many shows are not popular as ZGH or Humsafar...but many shows like you mentioned above either long /short running with good story are just good entertainment for us. On the other hand you find some examples of worst shows as well..

Now take another example. Kitnee Girhain baqi hain is a very good program but it is not popular as humsafar or ZGH. TBH i don't remember when i watched its episode last time... there are many other programs which were good like "Libaas" and "Tum Kaise Mohabat kertay Hoo". which have good stories but again not popular as ZGH or HS.

Well it was good drama but 250 episodes meaning 10 Dramas of 25 episodes for us.

Humtv called them soap because they used to be aired 4 or 5 days a week but not for years but yess more episodes than normal dramas and honestly speaking not even a single one worked out. Some drama makers tried to introduce the trend of soap making in Pak but the crowd didn't accepted. We are used to of watching a short n sweet serial. Even I didnt liked kash me Teri beti... was too overdramatic n OTT.
