Its because of Finance, cost-cutting measures.

The 4 main actors of EHT are established, experienced and EXPENSIVE actors...Ayub Khan, Simone Singh, Vatsal Seth and Sanjeeda Shaikh.

The first 3 have acted in Bollywood, Ayub and Simone are veteran TV actors, Sanjeeda has acted in numerous serials and won NB 3 with her husband.

So they all must be charging a lot per day. Now lets look at the show which is replacing EHT.

The main leads are almost unknown, never seen the hero before and the girl did Pihu's role in BALH and wasnt at all popular.

So obviously that serial is a low budget show...although made by Mittals.

Star Plus is definitely cost cutting...look at the new shows its recently launched, all unknown faces, like Suhani si Ek ladki (all new amateur actors), Nisha aur uskey cousins (unknown but good actors)

Star Plus doesnt want famous faces, because they charge more money per day. EHT is an expensive show not because of fancy sets but because of the famous actors.

So SP is ending EHT in a hurry, they want to save MONEY!

Star actually didn't do anything post Aug to promote this serial and it is the story's merit it has reached where it is.

MB also they did multiple unwanted intrusions. Though I had watched MB for the brilliant performance of SRJ, Pooja Sharma, Aham Sharma , Shahir Sheikh etc.. SP telling show will end in June then due to TRP giving extensions I guess the directors cut some important aspects and then dragged some unnecessary sequences. And MB was among Top 5 for most part of its run, even moving to top 2, top 3 positions continuously. Still they were intrusive.
