actuallyOS is one shot.It is not about one part .It is about single scene. It is one shot.ex Ek Paheli's one shots they start and end in same location,If you add more than one parts they turn to TS.One shot is basically single scene.Mostly we write on romantic things or few times confessions. If we don't like any scene we will write altering it.

There is no thematic limitationAn OS is ONE SHOT in one part you tell your storyTS is a two shot or a Three shot - 2-3 parts onlySS is short story usually does not extend more than 10 partsFF is fan fiction and has the trappings of a FICTION can be as long as you want - on IF since the pages get over at 150, your fiction is allowed to go beyond thatThere is no theme or characters or story or plot or TV show limitation! As long as characters stay you can take them anywhere you want!
some wrong info here so clarifying since i've been reading fanfics since forever lol. and not just indian...
os- one shot. does not have to be just one scene. could be multiple scenes. just that the whole story ends in that one part.
ts- two or three shot. originally was supposed to be just two part. then it started where it would be two parts with little third part as epilogue. now it's two or three parts.
ss- short stories. usually about 5-6 parts. can be upto 10 parts. though usually if it's reallly long 10 parts then it's considered ff.
ff- fan fiction. originally everything was called ff. just short ff or long ff. but now ff is the term for long stories of more than 10 parts.
in some of the answers above they said ss and ff difference is in how they differ from the show. not true. none of these have anything to do with how close to the show/book/series the ff is. the os/ts/ss/ff are all about number of chapters the story has. if your story has premise that does not match the original content then it's call AU. meaning alternate universe. to some degree all the stories are different from the show. but AU stories are completely so. where only the characters are used. so if you see ishra story from their college days or ishra being childhood friends or ruhi not being there, then those are AU stories.
hope this helps ;)
what ever. I am waiting ur...OS, FF , SS
