Friends, yesterday's episode contained two Jodha-Jalal lollipop scenes, one Ruq-chastisement scene, and about two scenes of the Salim-Murad confrontation. But by far the biggest news of all came from the one scene of Jalal talking to Salima about the birth of Murad.
Nowadays you cannot watch an episode for the storyline (because there ain't any!). So I have started counting scenes like I would buy vegetables at a market ... two of this, four of that and two of the other!
Let's get them out of our heads in the same order:
The Salima-Jalal scene: I thought it was a good scene but more than that a real relief. I think initially the Creatives did want to have flashbacks and show a big hungama where Salima is shown as Murad's mother and that she slept with Jalal when there was anban between Jodha and Jalal. Later our forum members seem to have bombarded Manish Paliwal with enough tweet-proof that Murad is not Salima's son. So yesterday, they just took a small two minute scene and finished off the matter as per our forum members' wishes!
Jalal tells Salima that Murad is shaping up well and will be a good sipahi one day. Salima says "He is after all your son!" Jalal says "He is your son too, though you never gave birth to him, and only started bringing him up after his real mother died".
Now it's a relief to many of us, but I am sure Maddy will correctly say "Whether Jalal slept with Salima is not the issue, clearly Jalal slept with some concubine who later died . And this was well after Salim was born and Jodha-Jalal were on good terms. So how does that help the disgust we all have that Jalal is not exclusively sleeping with Jodha after he said all those words about not going to anyone else?"
Good question, no answers!
The two lollipop scenes between Jodha and Jalal: As was to be expected the CVs gave us two lollipops. One right at the beginning starting with Jodha applying lep for Jalal's wounded hand, when he touches different parts of his chest and says there are many old wounds caused by old memories ... one wound caused when he first saw her at Amer in a palki, another caused by seeing her reflecton in the water during Gangaur, one caused by her putting the sword on his neck at the jail, one caused when she refused to let him touch her and one caused by her showing him his dil. Then Jalal suddenly gives a loud yelp of pain and his pain is satisfied by them caressing and presumably sleeping together. For this we had all that hoohaa! (I think they gave us this sleeping together scene just to soften the later blow that Murad was born when Jalal slept with a concubine!)
Second lollipop ... Jalal adores the floral Rangoli of Jodha when Jodha gets a chance to tell him how nicely he handled Ruq! (Clap, clap, clap!)
Hope you all were mollified with the lollipops and generally put up with the non-story in the whole episode?
The Ruq chastisement scene: This one I liked because Jalal took the air out of Ruq like a child would deflate a big fat balloon. Ruq came with all her audha and her mohurs to give in her resignation. She wanted to talk to Jalal alone, but Jalal said "It's okay, say it in front of Jodha and Salima!" Khatam. Matter over. (Claps for that!)
Then Ruq said "I hereby return my audha - as you have, without telling me, reinstated Rashid Khan to his job, though I am the in-charge of the harem". Jalal then took off his own crown and said "You punished Rashid for a child's mistake and now have to resign your audha. In the same way I punished a sipahi for Salim's mistake in leaving the palace. So here is my audha also returned!" (Claps for that too!)
Ruq, as expected, shamelessly said - almost immediately - "Sorry, I take back my audha!" (What else did we expect?)
Two scenes of Murad-Salim confrontation: This has also become part of the daily formula for the episodes nowadays. No episode is complete without at least two scenes showing Murad jealousy. First scene, Murad and Salim are fighting over the rules of the human chess game they are playing, but when Jalal comes there they hug and act like fused brothers! Jalal sees through this and sends them off for more manly pursuits such as warfare practise with Khanekhana (who is inspecting and keeping weapons ready)!
Second scene ... Murad is jealous of the bow and arrows gifted by Jodha to Salim, but he tells Haider "What's the use, the fellow is a bad archer!" To prove his point he challenges all the boys to knock some mangoes out of a tree with their arrows. Murad and Haider are spot-on, while Daniyal and Salim score a duck. Later in the precap we see Salim desperate to impress Nadira with his archery prowess and he hits a big ripe boy in the tree instead of a big ripe mango. Jodha is seen asking the poor fellow later why he is so down and out.
Anyway so much for the episode. Tomorrow I expect another "teda" lesson from Jalal to Salim on how to hit mangoes instead of boys.
But seriously, is this going to be some kind of murder accusation on Salim? Is this the big crashing of fate on their heads that Jalal's soul was talking of in the Makabra scene day before yesterday?
