He switched the topic immediately and pulled her into his arms breaking away all her denials and protests with just one statement,
"Now come on...let's not waste tonight...Its a favourable day, right?"
She forgot all her anger and jumped at the thought.
In the spur of the moment, be it the love, desire and physical attraction for each other, or just her undying hope for yet another successful attempt, they made love or made an effort to make a baby resting all other thoughts, burying all other worries, atleast for the night.

Things were going out of his hands. Literally his patience was draining out. Often he himself was surprised with the patience with which he handled her and her baby tantrums. But yes, his love for her won over all his angry emotions. Even at the verge of lashing out at her, he controlled himself and either dealt patiently or walked away silently.
The point was that he understood what she went through and her desperation couldn't be termed unreasonable. It was every woman's dream to have a baby and here, he had triggered off this wish in her. So now, he couldn't blame her for anything she did or didn't do.
She even cancelled his holiday plans because she had to get an urgent test and check up done before some harmone injection. Emotionally and even physically, she was draining out due to the treatments and heavy medications. All he could do was silently, helplessly watch her going through all of it. Their travel plans were also according to the treatment schedules. She wanted everything to go perfect as per the doctor's instructions. So she dared not step out of the rule books. He felt irritated and annoyed but posed complete silence. She came to him only when they were required to have an intercourse as part of her treatment routines. Else she stayed away from him. He was feeling as a mere tool in her hands which she required to conceive a baby. His anger and terrible mind state was going from bad to worse. In fact she wasn't going through any different situation. Only the reasons differed. She felt terrible and totally dejected when she got a negative result on the pregnancy kit. Getting 2 purple lines on it became her main agenda during the entire course of the month! The love making which had to be total bliss and a result of their love and passion often became forceful and stressful.
His work tensions were always there and now the tension she gave him was going out of limits. He knew that he had to get her back to normalcy else all his attempts to give her happiness and also keep their life happy and happening would go down the drain very soon because he knew that he wouldn't be able to handle all this and also his own temper for longer. The day his last straw of control and patience breaks, their relationship and life together would also go upside down, which he never want. He feared his own anger for the consequences he was forseeing!
He decided to take some drastic decisions to bring her back to his track. Perhaps it was time to bring back his Raavan Kumar side! Only Raman could cure Jhansi ki rani from this madness!
A few days later...
Ishita was busy taking out clothes for washing.
"Yeh Raman bhi na?? Maana yeh coat unnka favorite hai but kitne din isse bina wash ke pehente rehenge? Aaj isse laundry keliye deh hi deti hoom..."
She took out his favorite coat off the anchor and started checking if it had anything in the pockets before giving it to laundry. Something caught between her fingers when she checked the pockets.
She pulled it out muttering, "yeh kya hai? Kitna careless hai Raman...cheezon ko aisa yahaan wahaan rakh dehte hai aur phir doondte phirte hai"
The pack slipped from her hands to the floor. It was when she bent down and picked it up that she understood what it was.
Her face went pink in embarrassment and before she could hide it inside, Ruhi rushed to her, "Ishimaaa...mujhe bhi chewing gum chahiye..."
Ishita tried hide it behind her back hearing Ruhi's words while Ruhi tried to snatch it, "Aaap kyun chupaa rahe ho??...mujhe patha hai ke yeh bade bacche khaate hai...aapke aur papa keliye hai na?...parr Ishima...I am a big girl now...mujhe bhi khaana hai Ishima"
Ruhi had misunderstood what the pack was. Ishita knew that she can't hide it but had to deal it some other way, quite tactfully.
"nahi beta...yeh chewing gum nahi hai...cocokrach bhagaane ki dava hai...Iss cup board mein chote chote cockroach hai...isiliye Ishima..."
Ruhi snapped her words innocently in disappointed, "Ohhh..."
Ishita hugged little Ruhi and tried to cajole her, "Mere Ru bacche ko woh favourite chocolate laa doongi na..."
Ruhi was always easy to convince. She was a very sweet child without any tantrums. She instantly smiled and hugged her Ishima fondly and gratefully.
Once Ruhi left, Ishita was back to pondering the reason for Raman buying it.
"Raman ko isski kya zaroorat padh gayi? Hum toh..."
She blushed at the thought and thinks that he would have bought it just for fun. Later when Raman comes to the room, she tried broach the topic slowly,
Seeing her sheepishly smiling, hesitating and having some starting trouble in opening the topic, he enquired without a trace of smile on his face, "kya hua? Aaj Jhansi ki rani sharmaa kyun rahi hai? Doctor ne kuch naya treatment suggest kiya hai kya?"
She pouted at his insensitive talk, "Raman...aap bhi na...harr waqt aise khadoos kyun rehte ho? Kuch hasi mazag bhi karliya karo na?"
Raman mockingly looked at her, "accha? Yeh baat tum mujhse keh rahi ho? Tumne jo bawaal macha rakha hai na usske saamne koyi bhi insaan khadoos bann jaayega!"
He stressed on TUM meaning that she was the one who was hell bent on making their happy life filled with desperation. She didn't get the underlying meaning as always, "bawaal???? matlab? I mean kuch bhi bolte ho Raman...Maine kya kiya??"
He taunted, "haan tum kahaan kuch karthi ho?"
Ishita wondered what happened to Raavan Kumar all of a sudden. She doesn't probe much into it and instead tried to sound it like a joke, "aaj patha hai kya hua? Aapne woh waala packet rakha tha na...galti se mere haath se girr gaya aur Ruhi ne dekh liya...and my God kya kya jhoot kehna pada usske sawaal se bacchne keliye...aap bhi kamaal karte ho Raman..."
Raman exactly knew what she was meaning but posed ignorance, "kaunsa packet??"
She rolled her eyes and then shyly replied, "Woh packet Raman...jo aapne coat mein rakha tha..."
Then he shrugged off as if it's not a big thing, "accha woh..."
Then instantly flared up, "tum kyun mere cheezon ko haath lagaathi ho yaar? Usse wahi pe waapas rakh diya na?"
She was taken aback by his cold response and also this anger. She nodded, "hmmm wahi pe hai..."
"Ok"
A plain OK for this??? She frowned and was confused about what he was thinking in his mind. She turned to leave but her curiosity won over while she indirectly enquired,
"Ek aur baat thi jo aapse poochni thi"
He nodded as he looked into some office files, "jaldi poocho...mujhe meeting keliye nikalna hai"
She coughed and hesitantly started off, "aapne woh kyun kareedha?? Mera matlab hai ke humein usski zaroorat nahi hai na? Baby..."
He cut short of words, "Exactly my point...jo cheez se tumaara koyi matlab nahi usske baare mein kyun pooch rahi ho? Tum bas lage raho na apne baby making plans mein...apna dimaag baaki cheezon mein kyun waste karthi ho?"
He walked to the wardrobe by then and picked the packet. Putting it into his pocket, he said naughtily pointing each other alternately, "tumne teek kaha...humein isski zaroorat nahi but that doesn't mean I can't buy it, hai na?"
"matlab?"
He replied to her mockingly, "tum toh bohat samajhdaar ho na? toh matlab khud sochke samajh lo"
He just walked away giving her a wink but she was all the more in a fix now. She was seeing this Raavan side of him after a long long time today. She understood that he was very angry with her but then what did his wink mean? If not for them, then who was it for? Was he...
Even the thought of another girl or some extra marital affair freaked her out but then her sane side told her that her Raman wasn't like that.
She didn't know what to do or how to solve this problem. Her logical side told her that she had done a mistake by ignoring him and giving more importance to conceiving a baby though her emotional side kept pulling her back. Thinking back, she realized that she had indeed pulled the strings too long. She had indeed engulfed herself in a virtual world which she had built around herself and had never thought about him or his happiness. She was in a self realization mode and now she felt she had to do something to bring back the happiness that she herself had driven away.
She felt a tap on her shoulders and was pleasantly surprised that it was Vandu akka who had dropped in after a monthly check up. In a jiffy her akka grasped that Ishu was worried. Though Ishita denied initially, her akka's probing couldn't be ignored for long. She told her whatever transpired between her and Raman.
Vandu was quick to understand what Raman's problem was from what Ishita narrated. Afterall, so many years of matrimonial bliss had made her a relationship expert. She patted Ishita's hands consolingly when Ishita finally said, "Mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha akka...kya karoom kya na karoom? Raman gussa bhi samajh aa raha hai lekin..."
Vandu spoke up, "Agar samajh aa raha hai toh usse shaant karo na Ishu..."
When Ishu looked at her enquiringly, Vandu continued, "Ishu...Men na? kitne bhi bade ho jaaye, andar hi andar bacchon ki tarah hi hote hai...unne humesha pampering ki zaroorat rehti hai...pehle maa ki aur phir biwi ki...Raman bhi typical husband hai...Tum usse ignore karke sirf aur sirf bacche ke baare mein soch rahi ho...toh usse toh bhoora lagna hi tha na?"
Ishita looked at her sister with tears in her eyes, "but akka, baccha bhi toh zaroori hai...in fact Raman ne hi yeh saare treatment ke idea mere dimaag mein dhaala tha..."
Vandu smiled understanding what her thoughts and confusions were, "I know Ishu...tumaare liye ek baccha kitna important hai but Ishu, usske saath saath, apne husband aur tum dono ke khushi ka bhi khayaal rakho...Raman ne yeh sab sirf tumaare khushi keliye kiya tha na??"
Ishita nodded while Vandu continued, "So, don't make him regret the decision he took for your happiness...usse yeh lag raha hoga ke baccha aaya nahi aur tum abi se usse ignore kar rahe ho...socho jab baccha hoga toh tum baaki sab ko bhool hi jaavoge"
"Aisa nahi hai akka..."
Ishita tried to explain even though she realized what her akka was saying was so logical and justified. Vandu smiled and replied, "All I want to say is don't let go of anything for getting what you are yet to get...sabki apni apni jagah hai...aur apni apni ehmiyat bhi hai! Giving all the attention and importance to one is like insulting the other"
Ishita silently nodded and Vandu added with a wink, "Waise ek aur important baat...baccha tabi hoga jab tum aur Raman dono poore dil se khush rahoge, understand?"
Ishita smiled shyly and then asked, "I understand akka...but ab main kya karoom?"
Vandu naughtily chuckled and replied, "Bohat simple technique hai!"
