Are Bollywood actresses becoming more and more average looking?

Until the 90s, BW actresses used to be stunning in general, from Madhubala and Hema Malini to Madhuri and Aishwarya.

If you'd noticed, all those you mentioned as the best looking are outsiders.

The ones you call average pretty are those who are star kids or those with connections.

In the past, it was a sin to become an actress, since it was not looked at as a respectable profession. So mostly outsiders got the chance to become actresses - and only the truly best were picked. With time, that notion has disappeared, and now we have star daughters/sisters , even producer/director daughters etc becoming heroines. So even if they're average looking, they're groomed and given a makeover to make them look decent and then they're given films, whether or not they deserve them.

Just look at the current actresses - Alia, Sonakshi, Parineeti, Shraddha, Sonam - you name them, all star kids. So it's all the more difficult for an outsider actress to make a mark. When no star daughter will take up a role, the outsiders might have a chance. For instance, no one was ready to pair up opposite Tiger Shroff in his debut film Heropanti, so they had to get an outsider, Kriti Sanon - and she's any day more beautiful than all the current actresses. Thankfully, she's made a mark and has gotten more opportunities. So you get the big picture now.

Facial beauty is missing, so I totally agree with you there. I haven't seen any recent actress that is facially as gorgeous as Sonali Bendre, Aishwarya Rai, Namrata Shirodkar, Sushmita Sen were in thier prime. But when it comes to having toned/voluptuous/sexy bodies, the actresses now are way ahead of thier predecessors. But yea, the feminine faces are sure missing.

Yeah, I don't find any actress in the new lot beautiful enough to be a movie "star". Some of them are pretty, yes, but none of them are beautiful.

Truer words were never spoken. Majority are short as f**k and have no body. Thankfully that is changing. But even then yes, actresses are much better looking than the actors in BW.

yeah I agree ...NATURAL beauty is missing in todays heroines ...90's heroines like sonali bendre,sonam rai,neelam were gorgeous and looked pretty when compared to recent actress...but then again todays lot has the opportunity to go for facial treatments and botox to look good...

Nope don't agree. I actually prefer today's BW heroines. All I care about is how they look on screen with make up on and DAMN, they are bloody gorgeous. They have striking features with good toned bodies. And even face wise, they are beautiful. So I find old is gold nothing but bull crap.

My question is: Are desi girls becoming shorter day by day? Where are the tall girls? 😕
