Aa Aa Aa Aa Aa Aa Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

History has it that Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha, who worked together in hit films like Kaala Patthar, Dostana, Shaan and Naseeb seldom saw eye-to-eye. And the equation between the two hit a new low when Sinha asked his staff to return gift-wrapped mithai boxes sent by Bachchan after his son Abhishek's marriage to Aishwarya in 2007. "Jab bulaaya nahin phir mithai kis baat ki?" was Sinha's response. Bachchan retorted that those who were not invited were not friends to begin with.

The long-standing squabble seems to have ended this Diwali with the Sinha family trooping in to join the celebrations at the Bachchans' bungalow, Jalsa. Sinha was accompanied by wife Poonam, daughter Sonakshi and sons Luv and Kush. Their entry was the hot topic of conversation at the well-attended bash.

A source at the party told Mirror, "Amitabh was very happy that Shatrughan had decided to visit with his family. And the happiness was visible on Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya's faces too. It was a real reunion."

When contacted, Shatrughan confirmed the news, saying, "I would say it was a Ram-Bharat milap. The Bachchan family invited us and we were treated as if we were the chief guests. All four of them, even Amitabh's daughter Shweta, welcomed us warmly and took good care of us. It was a classy party and the arrangements were lovely."

Sinha had not visited the Bachchan home in more than three decades but Big B had visited him when he underwent a bypass surgery in 2012. "Then I invited Amitabh to the party I hosted for my doctors after my recovery and he reciprocated by calling me to his birthday bash last year. We graciously accept each other's invita tion but ghar pe jana kuch alag hi hota hai. Usme jo apnapan hai woh social gatherings ki mulaqat mein nahin hai," he emphasised.

When asked what had gone wrong between them during their heydays in the '80s, Shatrughan said: "Jawaani thi, josh tha, there were ego issues. Now, our stature and age demands that we behave as mature adults."He is euphoric that finally all is well between the Bachchans and the Sinhas. "What better occasion than Diwali to reunite?" he concluded.
