Becuase they create noise pollution, are dangerous - can light a fire. Plus, I was reading an article just this morning that hospitals prepare for more burns cases and injuries caused by Diwali celebrations using crackers.

Thank god crackers are banned in my country, for this precise reason.

Which country??
Sometimes, I feel the same should be done in India.. Not only for the noise pollution, air pollution it cause, but the production, manufacturing of fire-crackers is costing lives, year after year. Recently, 200 stalls were ravaged under fire in Faridabad... dont know how many died. And this keeps happening every year, all around the country somewhere or the other... when there's no proper infrastructure to deter against such incidents, I feel they must be banned till then.. :( or atleast people must be thoroughly educated in safe-manufacturing, handling, etc.
@DY --- you're so easy-going. 😆 Even when my cousins used to drag me, I'd only stand and watch or help them, hand over paper/incence stick 😆

Australia.

That is terrible, indeed crackers production should be banned in India, it's a dangerous business and the crackers itself cause so many injuries and people end up in hospital.
