Listen to the wind, it talks. Listen to the silence, it speaks. Listen to your heart, it knows.
What an episode! Words are not enough to do justice to the brilliance of today's episode. My heart took a thousand leaps looking at the couple I cherish the most on television. Today we saw various shades of love, each mesmerizing in it's own way oozing away it's own charm. Both Raman and Ishita as if screaming through their silence telling each other: Listen to your heart, it knows!' We do not need words, our hearts know!
Today's episode showed progress for both Ishita and Raman together, and this time not inch by inch but by leaps and bounds! Ishita's sadness at not being able to keep the fast and Raman's insistence at Ishita not keeping the fast showed us that love means care and compassion . Care and compassion of a Husband for the wellbeing of his wife, and care and compassion of a wife for the wellbeing and long life of her beloved husband. Both fighting for the wellbeing of each other!
Love also means family! A husband checking up on his wife to ensure she ate, a wife worried to find her husband's tiffin full, a daughter giving full account of her mother's food intak, father patiently listening to his daughter and a husband forcing his wife to eat. Love is family and what a beautiful portrait of love we witnessed in this endearing example of domestication.
Love is unity and togetherness! It was their first karva chauth, and both knew how much this day meant for them and their family. Together in unison they fulfilled the rituals of this festival. When a wife couldn't keep her fast, the husband stepped in and kept the fast. The wife without fasting took part in all the pujas and rituals with full faith. Husband's fasting and wife's faith in God made this festival complete. In unity and togetherness they came together to celebrate their first karva chauth! Love is unity and togetherness!
Love is longing! Raman longing to see Ishita, his eyes fixated in the sky to see his chaand'. Ishita lovingly gazing at her mehndi and longing for her Ravaan. Both craving each other's companionship and the longing of togetherness.
Love is also vocal. Ishra's silent love is progressing to from mute to vocal. A husband praising his wife, a husband asking his wife to spend two moments of love with him. Raman and Ishita found their VOICES today.
Raman: Tumhe ye news Mani ne batiye?
Ishita: Aur kaun batayga
Raman: MAIN!!! 'ME'
Ishita: Only men who LOVE their wife fast for them! She didn't hesitate to say the word love.
Both Ishita and Raman have now accepted that they love each other, the inner struggle is over, now their silent love becomes vocal! Love is vocal!
Today's episode reminded me of the dichotomy of Raman Kumar Bhalla's life. He is rich, successful, powerful with the ability to buy the world however like all of us he is poor in love. There is nothing in this world that can buy Ishita's love for him apart from his love and his dreams. It reminds me of this poem by WB Yeats, where he weaves a blanket full of dreams for his beloved because he isn't wealthy & can't afford worldly things. He says I lay the blanket of of my dreams under your feet so walk softly because you walk on my dreams. Ishita and Raman have laid the blanket of their dreams under each other's feet so tread lightly oh dear Ishra as you tread on each other's dreams!
Yeh Tumhari Meri Baatein
Hamesha Yunhi Chalti Rahen
Yeh Hamari Mulakatein
Hamesh Yunhi Chalti Rahen
Beeetein Yunhi Apne Sare
Din Raat
Baaton Se Nikalti Rahe Nai Baat
Phir Wohi Baatein Leke
Geet Koi Hum Likhe
Jo Dil Ko Haan Sab Ki Dil Ko Chu Le
EDIT: I got a few PMs regarding W B Yeats' poem that I referred to in my post, here it is for all those who requested it.
"Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
W.B. Yeats
