Yes Humsafar was a game changer in Pakistan but same does not hold true in India I heard Humsafar was telecast last year on Colors Rishtey But hardly anyone noticed it back than or knew about the show but now look after ZGH became a craze here Humsafar is launched by Zindagi in such a grand way and credit that to Fawad's huge fan following here in India post ZGH and ofcourse media hyped it further during Khoobsurat promotions.
Having said that first epi of Humsafar was a good one maybe after people have watched the show we will know how good the show is actually received by the audience.
Few people I know who have watched Humsafar after Zindagi Gulzar Hai loved the latter more and felt it was a much better show. But there are many others who love humsafar. The truth is both are blockbuster shows if Humsafar was a blockbuster in Pakistan you have to credit Zindagi Gulzar Hai for making Pakistan shows such a huge rage here in India and am sure many other shows will follow its success here.
I assure u even Humsafar's TRP will not be great here in India if u look at actual figures because Zee Zindagi's reach is much less as compared to giants like Star Plus, Colors, Zee.
But just like Geet on Star One which had maximum hype and fans online and thereby the show and actors where always more popular than most of the top shows on other channels same is the case for Zindagi Gulzar Hai which the social networking site took to a whole new level. Even people who had not watched it on channel where talking about it and watching on YouTube after Fawad Fever spread online like fire. Due to popular demand Zee Zindagi repeated the show again.
The show is currently breaking records for Hum TV in Europe so all in all the show is phenomenal and honestly Fawad is the star either ways because fans compare two of his best shows and characters all the time.
I want to be happy viewer and watch and judge Humsafar according to my own liking after I have watched it on tv. So guys relax and enjoy the shows.
I like ur analysis...well written and thought out...but again let me make a strong point. ZGh was well appreciated in India i agree but FK was still relatively unknown...until Khoobsorat promotions happened wherein the PR machinery used ZGh as the ref point for FK in India to promote him in a big way...it was good timing that ZGh was telecast before KS came out as that gave the KS PR guys to use it as ref point to showcase Fawads work in India during KS promotions...Any show of FK that had been telecast so, wud have been used similarly for KS promotions. Having said that, i agree that ZGh gave a good opening to Pak dramas on zindagi... but this coming down on me by some ZGh enthusiasts to tell me off for calling it an average show, is plain ridiculous. i was responding to one persons comment on my thread.
Coming to HS being telecast on Colors rishtey- it was never telecast in India - only oversees.
Good to know ZGh is doing well in Hum Europe. HS too has broken every and any online record whenever its been telecast...the craze that show has generated online globally is unparellled. Universal appeal- the beautiful, ideal but poor daughter in law vs the conniving mom in law..how can it go wrong. Every woman relates to it..but i was surprised at the apprecaition it got from the men..i guess, they all related to the mom vs wife dilemma. U may be seeing this trajectory of both shows now, i have been watching it ever since HS was telecast in Pak...was living overeas and was asked by a pakistani pal to watch HS even though she knew i never watched hindi shows..but man, did i get hooked! not only me, all of us desis at work were hooked..and we were the sorts who never watched any indian/pak shows...subsequently we all looked forward to ZGh but a majority of us felt let down...it just didnt live up to hype..left us with too many loose ends. It meandered...its loose screenplay is my biggest issue with it which is a shame coz its story is way superior to HS. Even fawad rates it a better show than HS as far his role goes but acknowledges it was never became as popular. The reason I am debating this HS vs ZGh in this thread so laboriously is coz i feel irritated by some of these ZGh enthusiasts who are hell bent on proving to one and all that it was THE show ...nope it wasnt...its a good show but it wasnt as big a blockbuster as HS and it wasnt the show that gave ur precious fawad khan his superstardom. That was HS. so pls, dont try and change the narrative. Give credit where its due. Having said that, i too will credit zgh for giving pak dramas a good opening in India. Hope HS manages to make an equal impact.
Funny u mention, GHSP, coz thats the only hindi show i have followed... ( a bit of Madhubala too for Drashti until that too became unbearable) ...I used to feel so upset that DD, GC and the whole gang never got their due whereas IPKKND, which was a copy of geet, got so much acclaim... but even then i will acknowledge that IPK was far more popular show though , like other geet enthusiasts , it hurts me to say so 😉
Good to know u r enjoying HS..hang in there...the drama picks up from epi 3 ...and then u will never look back...the reason i am such a fan is coz HS closed all the loops...U walk away satisfied that all your questions have been answered, all issues addressed. No loose ends. Of course the sizzling chemistry bw mahira and fawad is another big factor for its success. You know, Indu i used to think i ill never get to see chem like drashti and gurmeet had in geet on screen but i was proved wrong with HS...wo touching much, mahirah and fawad set the screen on fire... fell in love with both...mahirah more than fawad coz i felt she owned the character of khirad..a lot of ppl initially had reservations abt her stoic acting and felt she fell short but most of them changed their minds after watching HS again...and again..and again..they now feel she was the perfect khirad. If u r interested, suggest u read SZ blog called "desi rants and raves"..she is a a very balanced reviewer and is well appreciated and followed by pak artists themselves..if i am not mistaken, Mahira herself wrote into her HS finale review.
