He might have reached a couple of hours late during his recent visit to Ahmedabad to promote his latest offering Happy New Year, but Shah Rukh Khan made the wait worth it as he turned on his charm and spoke with his signature wit and sense of humour, which not only had everyone in splits, but also made them forget the ordeal of waiting for him.
Taking the lead right from the beginning, King Khan confessed that he "had been looking forward to come to Ahmedabad as it has always been fun coming to the city."
SRK accepted that kids entertain him the most apart from the process of making films and making new friends on the sets, pulling each other's legs, playing games and visiting different cities for promotions." And while the rest of the star cast continued having fun, SRK spoke about various aspects of filmmaking, promotions and more.

You are on a promotional spree for the film right now. How difficult is it to keep a track of everything when you go on these back to back city tours?
Promotions are a very essential part of filmmaking these days. So it's not that we sleep walk through promotions, we know which city we are going to and what we are supposed to do. Main dikhta nahi hun shayad, par main hun bahut smart. I might only be sleeping a couple of hours everyday, but I don't forget what I am doing.

So what's the idea behind such neck breaking promotions when you already have worked on the cast, story and every other aspect of a film?
In spite of doing everything right, it is essential to promote your film. And the reason is simple. Films are a phenomenon which cannot be reversed. Once you make a film and release it, you cannot change it. Once your audience starts going to the theaters, you have lost all control over your film and that's why before that happens, it is your duty to inform you audience, tell them every possible thing you think they need to know before they watch the film. As a producer, I don't want to cheat my audience in any way and that's why I make sure that I am telling them everything in my own capacity so that they can make an informed decision when they decide to watch the film.
You've been producing films for a while now, do you also wish to invest in regional cinema. And if you get a chance, would Gujarati cinema be on your list?
I can't say if I would be able to work in a Gujarati film, but I would surely like to invest in Gujarati cinema. I very sincerely feel that regional cinema should be looked at seriously by mainstream producers. There is so much money being invested in Bollywood, that regional cinema tends to get ignored. To make sure that regional cinema also gets its due and better production values, mainstream producers should lend their style of filmmaking to regional cinema. It will not only help in creating better films, but also improve the standards.
