All the characters have been written so well. Though it has the classic 4 lions' concept of layered storytelling juxtaposed with drama and romance, yet this FT romance has certain freshness to it. The main leads are not larger than life characters. They are beautifully flawed, relatable characters. So far it is believable as we see people around us in those characters.
Sahir's business acumen is very sharp. He can read people; you can't take him for a ride. Yet, he listens, gives adequate time to them to deliver. He is a very reasonable President. His main concern is Saiyaara. He values Anam because she is an asset for Saiyaara. He was clearly impressed by Aarzoo's cleaning of the sample overnight. He believes in giving second chances. He will watch both Aarzoo and Sarfaraaz like a hawk and this will certainly lead to future MUs. He always asks the right questions. Aarzoo's behavior and assertive sentences leaves him speechless. Whenever she makes a valid point and he acknowledges it with silence, and he is transported back to the days when he was like her.
Aarzoo is a hard working girl with ambitions, she knew that she made a mistake, accepted her fault and made it a point to rectify it. She rendered an apology when it was due. She also realizes that she should control her anger, she didn't throw anything today. She gives as good as she gets within the confines of decency.
Anam clearly doesn't like Aarzoo. Firstly because she is a small town girl middle class girl (with a dressing sense that is in sharp contrast to her). More importantly because Alvira brought her here, so enemy's friend is my enemy. I still feel that she is not the main Vamp here. Zaki and Anam will be the catalysts in SaAz's love story.
Zaki is one of my favorite characters. He is a typical youngest child. All three of them dealt with being a part of a dysfunctional family in different ways. He is a compulsive flirt with a drinking problem (I hope his liver is ok). He knows Alvira, Sahir and Anam inside out. He clearly loves his brother and will hopefully do the right thing for him one day. He will fall for Aarzoo, she is so different from the girls he is used to, that attraction is bound to happen. He treats her with respect and is genuinely intrigued by her.
Few Observations and questions from yesterday's episodes,
1. Alvira's reactions are certainly pointing towards a grey character with a hidden agenda. The looks are a giveaway.
2. I think Sahir called Anam on purpose; he didn't want her to take it further with Aarzoo.
3. Both Aarzoo and Sarfaraz will be under Sahir's scrutiny, he clearly thinks that something is amiss.
4. Sahir's misery is certainly connected with someone from Lucknow. Why would he constantly demean people from Lucknow when he has roots there? Chote Sheher, Chote Log, Choti soch... The betrayal was done by a lucknowi. The word Abbu hasn't been mentioned in their house. Alvira had to shoulder the responsibilities. Maybe, they were left to fend for themselves just like Aarzoo's family. He does say NO to his mom, because he understands her pain or is it a sense of gratitude because she is his step mom? A female was certainly involved, was she his dad's love interest or his? And where does the docs report fit into all this?
5. Sarafaraz has been working with Saiyaara for 8 years. Is Alvira privy to this information? If yes then was bringing Aarzoo here a part of a very well thought out plan?
HC is a king of expressions, his eyes speak volumes. SP is doing really well. SA is a treat to watch, his diction is awesome, and his comic timing is really good. He makes Zaki a likeable, non-threatening character.
Gul never goes wrong with casting!!!
Happy weekend, Will meet you all at the Dargah on Monday.
