What is the nonsense? It is written totally wrong then? Because that can't be possible, or it might be mother of foster brother sons of akbar.

As to the how and why Birbal became a minister - Birbal was one of the courtiers in the court of the Pannah Raja where Tansen also was - and Birbal was one of those who brought about the ceasefire between Akbar and the Pannah king when the Pannah king had given sharan to Ghazi khan and had refused Akbar's request of not doing so - which led to a battle with Akbar's forces led by Maan Singh which the Pannah king lost - and in the process of negotiations one of the members from the side of the Pannah King was Birbal - then called Mahesh Das - this is as per both Akbarnama and Tabaqat - i - Akbari - and from there Birbal must have been invited to Akbar's court - but Birbal did become one of Akbar's closest confidantes and friend due to his generous nature, spirituality, intelligence, presence of mind, common sense and ability to offer different perspectives - which were the characteristics of the Emperor himself and were well appreciated by him in others as well

Your point No.1 was not really secularism, Divya dear. At that point, he did not care, he only wanted her safely tied up. The same goes for his agreeing to her 2 sharts; the Schadenfreude (German for malicious pleasure) in his eyes and face as he accepts them was a delight to behold.

Your point No. 2 is way above all the rest, and that is why Mandy has that quote from my Gordian Knot post about Jalal at that moment. That was truly a moment of epiphany, and for me, that was the instant when Jalal became Akbar. All that followed was supplementary.

I do not know how and why Birbal became a Minister, and for what? My understanding was that he was appointed as the court jester, but being wise, his advice on other matters too was useful. Of course this Mahesh Das is a know all who interrupts the Shahenshah without so much as a by your leave. That scene of him and Tansen squabbling in front the Shahenshah in open court was unbelievable.😡

Thanks a lot for the information, Adiana.

But as for a generous nature, spirituality, intelligence, presence of mind, common sense and ability to offer different perspectives, well, all I can say that this Mahesh Das is very far from filling that very comprehensive bill! I found Akbar's indulgence towards him quite incomprehensible, unless one argues that like medieval court jesters, he was immune from punishment no matter how outrageously he behaved.

What was Birbal a Minister for? If he had a clear portfolio, as distinct from being a free floating adviser, I wonder why that is not commonly known. The popular perception is that shown in the film, a court jester who serves up wisdom camouflaged as jokes.

From what I have understood after my readings Shyamala, is that BIrbal was more an advisor to Akbar, someone with whom the Emperor discussed his ideas and his vision and who provided the Emperor with alternative perspectives and advise as well as guidance where needed - Birbal was almost 15 years older to Akbar born in 1528 and hence did have the advantage of age.

As for EK's Mahesh Das - he has been reduced to the court jester - perhaps on the lines of Tenali Rama - but yes he does fall short of the characteristics that I mentioned which had made him very dear to Akbar

Jo may be sent to Amer for recovery, not by an angry Jalal. Jalal can now NEVER misunderstand Jo. If he does I will agree with Ela's age old oft repeated statement that he deserves only Ruku 😆

Sandhya, that one is pure speculation based on today's epi with Ruqs accusation and precap - as always Jalal will be bashed over the weekend and will have to give agni pariksha 😆 Pata nahin kab log EK ki mahaan buddhi ko samjhenge aur jumping to conclusions karna bandh karenge - waise buzz create karne ka achcha tareeka chuna hai EK ne - and if ppl forget - Akbar and MUZ also had a baby daughter born in 1566 who also died in infancy - now that breaks apart the seperation theory 😆

haan EK ki NR ka koi bharosa nahin, but I dont think she would want speculation on who the mother of this unfortunate child was when it is a known fact that it was MUZ 😆

Someone please help me. What has been going on in JA regarding Jodha's pregnancy? I missed a lot of the current track and am so confused. Did Jodha give birth to Jahangir or no? Was she pregnant with another child before Jahangir according to history? Is the show sticking to history regarding Jodha's pregnancy?
