Exclusive Interview - Katrina Kaif talks on Bang Bang, Phantom & More

Katrina Kaif in part one of an Exclusive interview with us talks about the success of Bang Bang, Hrithik Roshan, her plans of being a producer, Phantom and lots more. Have a look-
Q. Bang Bang has crossed 200 crore mark worldwide, so what is your take on it??
Katrina- It's great news, I am very happy for the producers and I feel it's a very fun film which everyone can watch. The audiences are enjoying the ride. I am not following the box office of the film as I was not well post the release of film. But keeping a track of figures is producers work so I am happy that the film is doing as per their expectations.
Q. Would you like to produce a film yourself?
Katrina- Yes I would love to produce a film or have a share in the profits. But right now I am a bit busy now. Currently I am preparing for Dada's film (Anurag Basu) for which I will start shooting for Jagga Jasoos in 3 days.
Q. Do you think you are the official action queen in Bollywood?
Katrina- I feel the action is Bang Bang is done by Hrithik and the girl's character is a typical girly character. In Dhoom 3 I was playing a acrobat and in tiger I was playing a agent so I had those skills naturally. But Bang Bang is a regular character. But yes I would love to be a part of a action film like Kill Bill.
Q. You have been criticized for your acting so how do you deal with that?
Katrina- I don't look into life that way. We all live in a world where there is a lot of negative emotion and criticism but I believe in Live and Let Live formula. Those who don't like my films please don't come to watch them and if you like them come to watch them. I am not forcing you to come to watch my film.
Q. Do you feel happy that 3 out of 5 top weekends belong to you?
Katrina- Yes I do feel happy especially when I read about in a newspaper or on some website. These articles give an over view of my career in Bollywood and I feel numbers speak for them.
Q. Tell us something about your role in Phantom.
Katrina- That is hard to say as it is a thriller. It is a film where Kabir is trying something different. I have not been a part of such film in my career and it is written by the writer of Black Friday. His style of writing is very real and he has taken keen interest to get into the details of the script. He has created a element of suspense through his story. It is a properly crafted suspense thriller. There is an angle of terrorism in the film.
Q. Siddharth and Hrithik have started talking about Bang Bang Sequel. Would you like to be a part of it?
Katrina- I feel it's too early to talk about it. But yes if they come up with something interesting I would love to be a part of the film. Hrithik is a great person to work with. He Is very inspirational and has a great energy. I feel he lives film.
Q. Would you like to work in a Hollywood film?
Katrina- I think if there is a place for me to rise, if there is anything more I would like to achieve is in Bollywood. If I can achieve more and do better work and create better cinema I would like to do it here. I have been a part of Tiger, Dhoom 3 and Bang Bang and these are the kind of film's I love to be a part of.
Q. Your film's have done very well at the box office but you have never got any award for your performance. So does that bother you?
Katrina - Not at all; I once asked Salman this question and before Dabangg Salman never won any award for his performance where as not even a nomination. But he is such a iconic person in the film industry. Salim Sir told me Just to be different one does not have to be bad. Sometimes people make films which are very off beat but they turn to be very different. So people try to be different just for the sake of it. I believe in the philosophy never try to be different just for the sake of it. If something is working for you don't shy away from continuing to do that. Things keep on coming to you on it's own. I have won a lot of awards for being entertaining and popular so I accept them with a smile. I just remember what Salman told me that time and that makes me realize the reason for which I am in Bollywood.
Q. Tell us something about your role in Jagga Jasoos.
Katrina- There are a lot of speculations going around my character in Jagga Jasoos but I don't think any of them are correct. The only thing I can tell you is Ranbir plays a sort of detective but not in traditional sense. Anurag Basu has created his own world and a vision which I feel is very unique. It is very unusual from what we see around us. The film is strong emotionally.
Q. There are reports going around that there are 20 songs in Jagga Jasoos. How true is it?
Katrina- It is a musical film and in the traditional sense. It is musical where a scene is done in song. We don't do that in a film and it is completely different film.
Q. Tell us something about Fitoor?
Katrina- Fitoor is intense, passionate film which is directed by Abhishek Kapoor who has directed Kai Po Che. It is more on the lines of Qyamat Se Qyamat Tak which is a tragic love story. It is set in today's time and I feel Fitoor is a completely new love story which people will relate to. We start shooting for Fitoor in November after I am done shooting for Jagga. The only change is we will start with Mumbai Schedule instead of Kashmir. Basically fitoor is a young today's entertaining film.
Q. After working with Mega Stars like Salman, Shah Rukh, Aamir, Hrithik; how does it feel working with Aditya who is relatively a smaller superstar.
Katrina- I don't see it that way. Even in New York we all were very new and even in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan we were relatively new. It is a great energy to work with people who are relatively new. Script is a director's vision and if I believe in the director's vision I am confident that the actor he has chosen suits the script.
Q. How excited are you to work with Rekha?
Katrina- I am very excited. She is somebody I have had a blast interacting with. She is very passionate about her work. I have to be very careful to not get distracted by her beauty.
Q. At this stage of your career, would you like to do a offbeat film?
Katrina- I don't consider any film to be a offbeat film. If a script excites me I would love to be a part of it irrespective of the fact what kind of film it is. Say for example you consider Bang Bang a commercial film and Haider a offbeat film I don't see it that way. I see them both as films and both have an interesting concept. Haider has been made at a good budget and hopefully they will recover their budget. So both films are successful in equally with respect to their budget. Lot of people called New York a offbeat film as there were hardly any songs but it worked. Even Phantom for that fact is an offbeat film except for the fact that Kabir Khan is directing the film after Ek Tha Tiger behind him and Sajid is producing it. But it is a tight thriller and it does not have any song. It does not have any commercial aspect.
