Kulraj Randhawa and Sandeep Rajora
The curtains will come down on Zee's Kareena Kareena some time around mid-October, confirms the channel.

Happy ending

Confirming this Aman Khanna, executive producer on the show says, "Yes it is true that the show is coming to an end. The channel recently told us about this development. I think it's the best time to wind up the serial, as the story is anyway coming to a logical conclusion."

When asked how the show would end he says, "It will be a happy ending for sure. Right from the beginning, Kareena (Kulraj Randhawa) has gone through lots of ups and downs in her life. She has struggled and fought, and even told lies to try and make things possible for her. But now as the story draws to a conclusion, she will eventually get everything she has strived for. We want the audience to smile and feel good in the end."

Gone haywire

The show started around October last year and did wonders for the channel. But midway, the storyline went haywire and the ratings didn't exactly look good.

There was buzz that the show would come to a premature end. Khanna says, "Doing a daily, that too with a comic edge, isn't easy. In spite of whatever obstacles we faced, I can proudly say that the show has still retained its spark till the end."

Not a dead-end

However apparently this isn't going to be a dead-end for the show. There are talks of Kareena returning to the screen sometime next year with a second season.

Admitting that the channel is in the working stages for a possible new season, programming head, Ashwini Yarde says, "Yes we are looking at chances of bringing Kareena back. It's too early to speculate, as we are currently working on a storyline where Kareena is married and settled."

When asked about her take on the show's performance, she says, "Kareena Kareena has always been a show very close to us. We wanted to give it a break now as there is no point in stretching and dragging the story for too long. After the show ends Saath Phere will most likely take its place."

I just started watching KK recently and this is my first & probably last posting on KK -

I'm so glad to see some producers being sensible who are ending a serial while it still has a reasonable story line instead of pointlessly dragging and having great time leaps. šŸ‘ šŸ‘
Better to do this and stage a second season with fresh ideas instead of churning out the same old recycled stuff! 😔

I am really glad the show is ending, but I don't think it is "Happy Ending" as there is no "Happy" ending without Prem...

Curtains for Kareena Kareena!

T he lead of this show has been the face of Zee TV since its launch in the later half of 2004. But come mid-October, Kareena Kareena, Zee's lighthearted comedy is going to bid adieu to its viewers.

Kulraj Kaur and Sandeep Rajora: Bye bye time!

It was being speculated for quite some time that the show was going to be taken off-air, since it was dragging for too long. But one hoped that with the introduction of Faraaz Khan, the track would pick up momentum and look better!

"We were informed a week ago. It didn't come as a surprise as the show had gone bad, creatively, in the middle, but with the introduction of the negative guy, I thought that it would work. Because of this I was expecting an extension...but finally, it is the channel's call!," says Sandeep Rajora, who plays Tushar, Kareena's love interest in the show.

The show, according to our sources, will have a grand finale, that will culminate in Kareena finally tying the knot with the man she loves.

Kareena and her love: finally together!

Zee's head of programming, Ashwini Yardi, confirmed the news.

"I am happy that the show is ending on a happy note. We will soon be completing 200 episodes, and after this is done, I am looking to do more adventurous shows," says Kulraj, who admittedly is feeling bad about the end of her first show. Kulraj is now all ready to jump into the filmy bandwagon.

Zee TV has a slew of shows lined up for the end of the year -- Sanjay Wadhwa's Saat Phere and Balaji telefilms' Hum Paanch are two that are slotted for launch in mid-October.

Which of these shows is going to replace Kareena...and which show will the other one replace?
