"Well. .. u r one hell of an engineer Mr.Shekawat...We are more than happy to have u on board!!" Mr.Mark, the CEO of Classic cars was all praises for Randhir.
"Thank u Mr.Mark..." Randhir forced a smile, while his entire concentration was basically on spotting Sanyukta , outside the glass doors of the cabin.
"U wil definitely enjoy workin with r team- Arpita, Kyle n Sanyukta..." Mr.Mark smiled, while Randhir's heart skipped a beat as her name came in contact with his ears.
"I would love to meet them Sir!" Randhir's eyes twinkled in excitement, the wait to see her was killing.
"M sorry to disappoint u Randhir, but Kyle and Sanyukta dont work on Saturday's, and well I dont really knw whether Arpita is here today or not..." Randhir's face fell on hearing his words, the more eager he was to meet Sanyukta, the more tricks destiny was playing with him!
He muttered a see you under his breath and walked out of the cabin disheartened, only to bang into someone.
"Ouch!" The girl touched her forhead, wincing in pain.
"I am sorry..." Randhir apologized.
"Ohhh! Randhir, that is arpita!" Mr.Mark who came to check on the source of noise outside his cabin, introduced the two of them to each other.
"Hey arpita!" Randhir smiled slightly uninterested, though in response Arpita just stared at him in disbelief, making Randhir feel awkward.
"You...are R..ann...dhir?" The tinge of discovery, excitement and shock in her tone made Randhir feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Aaa..ye..ss.." He gulped and walked away, while Arpita wore a triumphic smile...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"So, how is my darlin Agarwal feelin today?" Arpita sat besides her sleepy friend, who rubbed her eyes.
"My head hurts..." Sanyukta held her head in pain, sittin upright.
"That happens when people drink beyond their capacity..." Arpita sarcastically smiled.
"So, last night was the 20th time u called ur boyfriend, Randhir before kissin him. Care to explain?"
Arpita haugtily stared at Sanyukta, her heart thumping in excitement- this was a daily Sunday morning routine for her.
Every saturday night sanyukta would get too high, and end up kissing Kyle, who used to be equally high, referring to him as Randhir. Arpita, had noticed, Sanyukta never kissed Kyle when she was in her senses, and when drunk, she kissed him, thinking of him to be some "Randhir," making it clear that Sanyukta had some deep connection with that guy.
Though her interrogation was always termed as lame, meaningless and baseless by Sanyukta, and today was no different. But Arpita had finally diacovered randhir and her excitement knew no bounds.
"Randhir?" Sanyukta narrowed her eyes trying to form creases on her forehead, attempting to make Arpita believe she was hearing the name for the first time in her life.
"Yeah..some randhir. ." Arpita stood up, not wantin to disclose any further details. She just couldn't wait for sanyukta to finally meet "Some Randhir!!"
While Sanyukta shut her eyes tight controlling the flow of tears. No matter how hard she was working to wipe away all his memories, her efforts were nothing but a waste!
She consciously avoided all things and places that reminded her of him, though her heart and sub conscious mind was stuck only on him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He frantically paced outside the huge buildin, desperately waiting to see her. Finally it was monday, and they were going to work together!!
The thought was making him shiver, he could not wait to meet her!
''Sanyukta'' his eyes brimmed as his mouth spelt her name, the sight of her after two long months, arose in a gush of emotions- realisation, guilt, pain, happiness and love.
He moved a step forward, to assure her of his presence, but Sanyukta took a step back and turned, behaving as if she didn't see anybody,
she took to her heels and retreated to her cabin, leaving Randhir rooted to the spot, while Arpita , who was standing right behind Randhir, was trying to decipher the meaning of this interaction.
She banged the cabin door shut, and fell on her knees, the unexpected encounter with her past, shaking her emotional balance completely,
Bringing back all the beautiful memories, she had been forcing herself to forget, in the last 2 months. The moment her eyes caught his
sight, the sudden urge to rush into his arms and engulf him into a tight hug, arose in every part of her body, wanting to convey how much she had missed him. But she had successfully gained controlled over every emotion of hers, unwilling to repeat the same mistake again- She had displayed her vulnerability, desires, love to him once before, to receive mere lust and pain from him. There was no way she was going to repeat her mistake, for she was yet repenting for the earlier one...She had stopped consuming coffee, for it haunted her with the memory of him. She shut her eyes to avoid witnessing rains, as it reminded her of their first actual physical proximity. It had been 2 months since she had visited a terrace, as all she could connect a terrace to, was with their moments there.
And now, he was back, for reasons best known to him! A part of her was certain he loved her, and still does, though her hurt ego and bruised hurt, safely believed, he was here to play, again.
"Open the door Sanyukta! Please!!" Randhir violently banged the door, desperate to have a conversation with her, just once.
Mentally deciding her course of action, Sanyukta wiped away her tears, controlled the ones that were theratening to fall, and opened the door.
Randhir barged into the cabin, and shut the door behind.
"Sanyukta...I know you are mad at me...Bt..M sorry..I.." Randhir gripped her shoulder restlessly, falling short of words, her blank
face and lack of response, making him feel impatient.
"Its Ok Randhir,..." Her lips softly uttered, managing to curve themselves into a small smile, though her eyes were screaming a different story- a story of hurt, betrayal, pain and longing.
"Its ok?" He repeated her words in disbelief, his eyes stuck on hers, while her hands clutched the sides of her shirt, his response making her go weak.
"Yeah...Its fine...Its not like we were in a committed relationship and you cheated on me...The deal was alway clear..." The grip on her
shirt tightened in pain, her eyes not once looking into his, as his longing gaze was making her feel vulnerable. In complete contrast to her actions,
Randhir's hold on her shoulder loosened in perplexity, his eyes were dying to search for some emotion in hers.
"I...Ofcourse I owe you an apology! We were in a relationship!" He violently grabbed her shoulders again, panicking at her reaction.
"Physical Relationship Randhir." Her corrective tone pierced his heart, while her gaze shifted from the floor, to his eyes, witnessing in them
immense amount of guilt and yearning, accompanied with a larger chunk of pain her words were causing him.
For a moment, she actually wanted to believe she had discovered love in them too, but she conveniently ignored the fact - her heart was in no condition to face rejection once more.
"I was wrong Sanyukta..." He moved his hands from her shoulders, to her face, cupping it.
"Even You know it...It was love from the very beginning..." His thumb caressed her lips, Sanyukta shut her eyes in anticipation of a kiss - His touch still had that intoxicating effect on her, her knees still went weak, her stomach was filled with jitters. No amount of words were capable on expressing the void his absence had created in her life, every cell of her body was craving for him, to make up for their two months long emotional and physical distance.
"I missed You Sanyukta..." His breath caressed her lips, one hand of his placed on her chin. Sanyukta's hands involuntarily moved to his chest, placing them, there.
Stop Him Sanyukta- Her brain screamed, as his lips brushed hers.
He is back to fulfill his unfulfilled desires, thats it!- It continued, causing Sanyukta to immediately jerk him away.
"You.Missed.My.Body.Randhir..." She venomuously stared into his eyes, inspite of her heart screaming at her for her absolutely incorrect
thoughts. But Sanyukta could not afford to follow her heart for the second time.
"Sanyukta...How...could...you..." He clutched his fists in anger, as his brain processed the meaning of her sharp words. Grabbing her shoulder, he banged her against the wall behind.
"Do u even know what you're saying?" He restlessly shouted.
"Sach bol rahi hoon Randhir!" Her pitch increased too.
"We can never fall in love Sanyukta...I lust u Sanyukta...Yaad aa rahe hai yeh words Randir?" She violently shook his collar.
"I have moved on Randhir...I love Kyle, and he loves me too..." Sanyukta's voice suddenly turned into a whisper, her words seeming anything but true.
"I really love u Sanyukta..." His broken voice was stabbing her heart, her words had killed a part of him, it was clearly evident, for suddenly, his eyes was filled with disbelief and stubbornness.
"You dont Randhir...You wil again walk away once you are satisfied..." She knew her words were a mere lie, making her look away from his eyes immediately, but the opportunity to make him aware of the pain he had inflicted her with was to tempting to let go. Shooting her last bullet, Sanyukta wiped away the tears decorating her face, pushed him behind, and began walking towards the door.
"I Love You Sanyukta..." He again whispered, staring at the wall in front of him in defeat, his eyes not having the strength to even blink once.
"I always loved you... I am sorry for everything Sanyukta..." He turned to face her, and fell on his knees, crying. Though Sanyukta wanted to hug him, kiss him, and console him, she did not move an inch, her fears over powering her love.
"It is absolutely fine Randhir.." She opened the door of the cabin with a straight face.
"I have no hard feelings...Whatever happened between us is History...Whether u still want to continue LOVING me...is ur choice.."
She stressed on loving, and walked away not once looking back. Randhir rose his head to stare at her retreating figure, feeling extremely
giddy and so weak, that standing up seemed to be a task for him.
"It was never Lust Sanyukta...I know u r hurt...U still love me..I wil prove my love to u Sanyukta..." His eyes were still stuck in the direction
through which Sanyukta had walked away...
How was it??!!!!
