CHAPTER 75. AN EMOTIONAL SHOWDOWN

Day - 6 Wednesday

Sheeshmahal

Geet smiled as she walked towards the garden early morning. She had a beautiful dream the night before. In her dream, Maan had finally accepted her love and had asked her to marry him. Haaye! Kya sapna tha! Ab bas yeh sapna poora ho jaaye, phir mujhe aur kya chaahiye! Geet looked up and pouted. Babaji! Mera sapna poora karoge na? As Geet was walking while looking up, she did not notice Maan coming back from jogging and crashed right into him. Both fell down with Geet on top of Maan. As Maan tried to get his bearings, Geet smiled dreamily at him, "Haaye! Aaj ke din ki kya achchi shuruvaat hui hai!"She looked up at the ceiling, "Babaji! Roz aise hi mere din ki shuruvaat karwaana haan!" Maan growled and pushed her away. He got up and glared at her. Geet, who was sitting on the floor, pouted at him and raised her hand, "Maan! Haath do!" Maan looked away and Geet rolled her eyes, "Arre! Zindagi bhar ka haath nahi maang rahi hoon! Woh haath maangne ka kaam aap karoge aur woh bhi mere AB se! Main toh bas uthaane ke liye haath maang rahi hoon!" She pouted again and Maan gave her a stern look and gave her his hand. He pulled her with such a force that she crashed right into him.

Geet looked up and into Maan's eyes and giving him a coy look, she batted her eyelashes at him, "Offo Maan! Baahon mein hi lena tha toh pehle bol dete, main toh kabse aapke baahon mein aane ke liye bekaraar hoon!"

Maan felt his anger mounting at Geet's antics. He had enough of her. He grabbed her arms and pushed her away roughly. Geet stumbled back and looked at Maan in shock. Maan's eyes were red with rage as he glared at her and shouted, "ENOUGH! ENOUGH GEET! Bahut hogaya tumhaara drama! Band karo yeh sab naatak!"

Geet's playful expression turned serious and she glared back at him. When she spoke, she spoke with a calm and controlled voice, "Nahi! Nahi band hoga mera naatak! Jaante hain kyun? Kyunki yeh naatak nahi mera pyaar hai!"

Maan grabbed her arm and pulled her close, "Mita do iss pyaar ko! Kyunki yeh pyaar tumhaara ek darfa hai aur zindagi bhar ke liye ek darfa rahega, samjhi?"

Geet pulled her arm away and showed her rage with her eyes, "Nahi mitega! Jo karna hai karlijiye!"

"GEET!", Maan roared.

"Chillaayiye mat!", Geet said in loud voice and then her voice lowered to normal, "Chillaana mujhe bhi aata hai!"

Maan glared at her and turned to storm away.

Geet glared at his back, "Mujhe pata hai mera pyaar ek darfa nahi hai!"

Maan continued to walk away and Geet shouted, "I KNOW YOU LOVE ME BACK!"

Maan stopped and turned still as a statue at her words. Geet stormed towards him, grabbed his arm and turned him around. She grabbed his vest, pulled him close and spoke with gritted teeth, "Mujhe pata hai aap mujhse pyaar karte ho! Aur mujhe yeh bhi pata hai ki aap kyun iss pyaar se mukar rahe ho!"

Maan looked at her in shock while Geet removed her hands from his vest and smoothed it over. Geet looked down and mumbled, "Mujhe pata hai ki jab aapki Soni aapse alag hogayi thi toh aap toot se gaye the aur aapka Babaji aur humaare pyaar par se vishwas uth gaya! Aur aaj aap apne aapko isliye rok rahe hain kyunki aapko darr hai ki Babaji mujhe bhi aapse phir se cheen lenge! Par Maan...", Geet looked up with tear filled eyes, "Aisa bhi toh ho sakta haina ki hum dono ka pyaar itna taakatwar hai ki aapko bhoolne ke baawajood main aaj phir se aapki hogayi hoon!"

Maan stared into her tear filled eyes for a moment and Geet saw nothing but love in it. But then Maan looked away and when he looked back, every emotion was wiped out from his eyes and only blankness stared out of it. Geet blinked and few tears dropped off as Maan turned and began walking away.

Geet took a deep breath gathering herself and spoke, "Theek hai Maan! Bhaagiye! Jitna door aap mujhse bhaag sakte hain bhaagiye! Lekin main aapka peecha nahi chodungi!" Her voice was calm but Maan could sense the steel behind it. He stopped walking and questioned quietly, "Kab tak Geet? Kab tak mere peeche bhaagogi? Thak jaaogi tum!"

Geet smiled as she wiped the tears flowing from her eyes, "Nahi thakungi Mr. Maan Singh Khurana! Arnav Singh Raizada ki behen hoon! Unse maine zidd pakadna bnhi seekha hai aur jis cheez ko chaahte ho use paana bhi seekha! What a Raizada wants, Raizada always gets!"

Maan turned his head sideways but did not fully turn around. He looked at her through his peripheral vision, "Ek din toh tumhein rukna hoga!" His voice was soft and pleading as if he was telling her to stop ramming against the walls he had built to protect his heart.

Geet's exression transformed into determination and she smirked, "Forget it Mr. Maan Singh Khurana! Ab yeh Geet nahi rukegi! Main koshish karti rahungi! Jitne baar main aapse milungi, utni baar main koshish karungi! Har baar aapse ek hi sawaal poochungi. Will you marry me, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"

Maan inhaled a sharp breath at her words as his eyes widened.

Geet continued to speak, "AB ki shaadi hogi, NT Di ko baby hoga tab bhi main nahi rukungi! NT Di ke baby ke naamkaran pe bhi aapko ek hi sawaal poochungi, Will the baby's Tayaji marry his future Tayiji?"

Maan turned around fully at her words and looked at her in shock.

Geet gave him a proud smile, "AB jab papa banenge, tab bhi main delivery room ke baahar yahi sawaal lekar aapke saamne khadi rahungi, Kya naye baby ki Bua Mrs. Maan Khurana banegi?"

Geet's throat constricted due to emotions but she continued speaking in a soft loving voice as she started walking towards Maan slowly, "Saal beetenge! Kanha bada hoga! Uski shaadi hogi! Tabhi bhi uski Maasi Mr. Khurana se yahi poochegi, kya aap kanha ke maasaa banoge Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"

Maan's expression turned into horror as Geet continued to walk towards him and spoke in sweet voice, "Saare bachche bade honge! Hum dono buddhe ho jaayenge! Aap jyaada chal phir nahi paayenge! Main roz car se aapke ghar aaungi, aapke khaane peene ka dhyan rakhungi, aapko davaai time pe dungi aur roz raat aapse ek hi sawaal poochungi, Will you marry me, Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"

Maan's expression turned into pain as Geet came and stood in front of him, "Ek din aayega jab aap hospital mein honge, aapke upar jaane ki baari aayegi, tab main aapke bagal ke bed pe leti rahungi aur tab bhi yahi poochungi, mujhse shaadi karoge Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"

Geet cupped his cheek with her hand and Maan softly pressed his cheek into it, "Aur jab aapko jannat naseeb hogi na toh main wahaan bhi aapka peecha nahi chodungi, wahin bhi main yahi sawaal poochungi, Will you marry me..." Geet broke off as she swallowed her emotions and continued in a whisper, "Mr. Maan Singh Khurana?"

Both had tears in their eyes as they stared at each other. Maan took a shuddering breath and whispered to her, "Please Geet! Don't do this! Mere liye apni zindagi ko is tarah barbaad mat karo! Please!"

Geet stiffened at his words and the love in her eyes replaced with fire. She pulled her hand back and smirked at him coldly, "Try me Mr. Khurana. Try me!" Her eyes flashed as she spoke, "Main aapka peecha nahi chodungi! Aapki main banke rahungi! I will be Mrs. Maan Khurana one day! And that is my promise!"

Geet turned around and stormed away as Maan was left standing behind with devastation written on his face.

While Geet was stating her promise to Maan, Khushi and Arnav were about to have their own showdown. Khushi was as usual making and munching Jalebis as she pondered the last night. Their dance was so pure, so intense that if she closed her eyes she could still feel his arms around her waist. And that is what she did. She closed her eyes and envisioned the dance. She imagined being wrapped in Arnav's arms. She took a deep breath and exhaled as she smiled dreamily. She got lost in the dance and her feelings.

"Mere baare mein soch rahi ho?"

Khushi screamed and dropped the Jalebi in her hand as Arnav smirked after whispering into her ear.

Khushi looked at him with her hand on her heart while Arnav looked at the Jalebi longingly, "Jalebi? Yum! Pity I can't eat it!" He shrugged and looked at Khushi with mock innocence on his face, "Tum shaadi ke baad bhi aise hi har roz Jalebi banaaogi?" When Khushi continued to look at him in shock, Arnav looked at the Jalebis and commented, "Lagta hai shaadi ke baad AR Fashion House ke paas hi Khushi Sweet Mart bhi kholna padega! What do you think sweetheart? Mere Fashion Shows mein dinner ke saath tumhaare Jalebis free! What do you say?" Arnav looked at her with an innocent face. Only his eyes were twinkling with mischief.

Khushi narrowed her eyes and placed her hands on her hips in anger.

Arnav appeared nonplussed, "You do know that you look hot when you are angry?" Arnav informed her matter of factly as if he was informing her about the weather.

Khushi let out a scream and turn to stomp away when Arnav grabbed her hand. He pulled her back and whispered in her ear, "Waise tum badi hisaab barabar ki baat karti thi na? Yaad hai?"

Of course, yaad hai! Khushi remembered every one of her meeting with Arnav; the good ones and the bad ones. She closed her eyes tightly willing herself not to react at Arnav's questions. She will not succumb to him the way she did the other night. She won't become weak again. She had to hold on to her anger because if the anger drained away nothing would be able to keep her from falling into his arms and that would ruin her sister's life. She took a deep breath hoping that Arnav would take in her silence and walk away. But of course, this was Arnav we were talking about; as if Khushi's unresponsiveness would stop Arnav.

Arnav continued speaking, "Kal toh maine tumhein kitni baar kiss kiya! Tumne ek baar bhi mujhe kiss nahi kiya? I want my hisaab baraabar too!" Khushi whirled around and looked at him, aghast at his implications as she took in Arnav's pouting look and puppy dog eyes. As she looked at him, his words rang in her ears and she wrenched her hand out of his hands. Her eyes flashed in anger as she spat, "Hisaab baraabar? Aapko hisaab baraabar kar ni hai? Aapko?"

Arnav frowned at her words but before he could say anything Khushi let out her anger, "Fine! Aapko hisaab baraabar karna hai toh theek hai! Kal raat ke kiss ke pehle aapne humein bahut kuch diya, toh hum woh pehle aapko waapis karte hain! Waapis dein hum?"

Arnav was concerned now and his concern came out as he raised his hand to comfort her but Khushi pushed his hand away roughly and glared at him. She mocked him by speaking in sweet voice, "Kya hua Arnavji? Aapko yaad nahi aapne humein pichle kuch mahino mein kya kya tohfe diye? Toh aayiye, hum aapko yaad dila dete hain! Aapko yaad hai woh sab taane jo aapne maare the jab pichle mahine hum aapke ghar aaye the?"

Arnav flinched at Khushi's words and Khushi gave him a cold smile, "Oh! Toh aapko yaad hai! Humein laga ki aap bhool gaye! Toh aapko yeh bhi yaad hoga ki aapne humpe kya kya ilzaam lagaaye the jab aapki sagaai humaari jagah humaari Di se hui thi? Yaad haina? Toh ek kaam karte hain Arnavji! Aapne jo humein dard diye the wahi dard hum aapko dete hain! Duniya bhar ke taane maarte hain aur har ek jale pe namak chidakte hain aur phir aapko aake aapka kiss dete hain, THEEK HAI?" Khushi screamed the last part as she glared at Arnav.

Arnav looked at her with pain and devastation on his face. Khushi marched towards him and came toe to toe with him. She hissed with gritted teeth, "Phirse hisaab baraabar ki baat mat keejiye Arnavji! Agar hum hisaab baraabar karne par utar aaye na, toh aap seh nahi paayenge!"

Khushi turned around and stormed away as Arnav looked at her with hurt and anguish on his face.

As well this time when he does if he does it will be worth it

Cause this time he will propose geet who is soni but this time she will remember naa

Phele toh she accepted as she thought he was her fianc

So this time he proposes if he does well she will accept cause she loves him
