There was an article about it in Filmfare that Arjun refused this film as Pari's character had more meat.

Ohh ok.Well understandable that he didnt wanna repeat Ishaqzaade scenario.Though from the trailers,ARK role looked more interesting and seemed to have equal screen space/importance unlike a HTP where it was evident from the word Go,which character is crucial to the storyline.

Reviews would paint a better picture on this.

I was watching d making of DEI and it seems like a thriller in d sense ARK is scammed by Pari and he goes on dis wild goose chase in order to nab her. D film also claims to expose how d dowry system is still prevalent in India. Mardaani was a good film by YRF on d flesh trade so m hoping Habib Faisal has done justice to DEI too!😆
