Box Office Prediction: Khoobsurat & Daawat-e-Ishq

In a season of women-centric films that have been releasing one after another, two more will hit the screens this Friday - Khoobsurat and Daawat-e-Ishq. Though both films have a bonafide male lead (Fawad Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur), while Sonam Kapoor is clearly driving the show for Khoobsurat, for Daawat-e-Ishq the story is told from Parineeti's point of view. Good part about both the films is that they have been promoted well while also understanding their target audience well. Though none of the two have been hyped uncontrollably, there has been decent buzz amongst the youth, which is good.

In terms of music too, neither of the two films boast of blockbuster music though it must be said that Khoobsurat has managed to see a better response due to its catchy appeal. Though that won't make much of a difference to the opening or the eventual run, a positive ingredient certainly helps. On the other hand Daawat-e-Ishq carries an edge due to Yash Raj Films banner, as a result of which the film's reach would be quite widespread. Eventually though, both films are aiming for the same market and the target audience which means it would be quite interesting to see how box office behaves on the opening weekend.

Overall, while both films would open in 30%-40% range, Daawat-e-Ishq may just have a slight edge. Also, Habib Faisal (Do Dooni Chaar, Ishaqzaade) has shown in the past that he is a capable director who tells a story differently, while making them commercially viable. However if the content of Khoobsurat is promising, it should catch up well too as it has enough ingredients in there to enjoy a long run.

All in all, a good weekend ahead for audience who want to catch light hearted films in theaters. It would be even better if both these films turn out to be winners at the box office.

Watching both. Khoobsurat followed by DEI.

content wise, KS looks like having a cliche storyline, but I hope it proved me wrong by giving me slightly indie feel on like like Aisha, as I love KS type flick. While DEI, hmm I have no comment as I always end up felt unsatisfying by watching Yash Raj Rom Com, be it habib faisal or Shaad Ali.. Do Dooni Char is Habib's good movie but from Disney UTV. Anyway goodluck for both. I care for KS more and hope WOM is not bad. Just 5% cr opening could make me happy.

Khoobsurat will do better overseas than DEI I feel

KS for me followed by DEI if reviews are good. DEI always had rumours of producer being unhappy with the film. When that happens films usually turned out be messed up. We had similar rumors or MK, FFF too in the recent past.

Interesting they mentioned its going to be more of a Parineeti Vs Sonam battle as both movies are told from the female lead's POV...Knew that abt Khoobsurat but DEI is a surprise!
