Television shows believes in stereotypes.
Since Shaurya is the black sheep, Dev has to be the white donkey.
Shaurya is a spoilt brat Dev is a 'agyakari' beta
Shaurya is a womaniser Dev is a one woman man
Shaurya disrespects everyone Dev respects everyone
Shaurya has a fake degeee Dev has a real degree
Shaurya is immature Dev is a mature man
And so on...
To make one character evil, they make the other character a simpleton. To make a character clever or calculative, others will automatically turn dumb. To make one bahu manipulative other will have to become an ideal tyag ki murti type bahu. It is called theory of relativity. Something is better than nothing
Perfection is the word that exists onlyin the dictionary. God never made it and man will never make it. I wonder why the TV shows come up with such larger than life characters.
Its general trait of all humans to calculate his own profit or loss before doing anything for others. But in Tv shows you will find the leads giving away their shares for their siblings or cousins while their own children would be left to starve. This is neither possible nor logical. In many cases we see such brilliant sacrifices 'mera bhai/behen tumse pyar karta/karti hai so I can't marry you. Like really ? You make your sibling marry your mate to keep them happy ? Is this what an ideal man or woman is suppose to do ?
An ideal man is suppose to keep his woman safe. Dev can do that ? I wonder...I know he is a great man with all godly qualities but the day his mother says, " Nitya ne mera ghar tod diya" he will quietly and with desperate emotions and not to forgot with tearful eyes can say, 'Nitya tum chali jao yaha se' I need not argue on this because all the Tv shows come up with such dialogues.
Thus, I am still confused about the logic to why I am to believe Dev is the lead here. Basically, Shaurya's imperfect character makes us believe Dev is a perfect match. But at the end of the day, love is part of life and not everythng.
Remember Lata Mangshkar's song
" Pyar se jaruri kai kaam hai
Pyar sab kuch nahi hai zindagi ke liye "
