Perfect match, What does it mean ? We have seen the Indian shows with this perfect match theories. since we cannot discuss other shows, let us take the example of EHT alone

How is Dev the most suitable man for Nitya or Durga? I know since he is the romantic lead he has to be the one for the female lead irrespective of his qualities but I want to know it from practical point of view. Is it enough that he loves Nitya ?

Can you fall for a man like Dev ?

P.S: Comment only on the character not on his looks.

If you ask me personally no...I don't fall for a guy like Dev...

In Nithya's POV Dev is her perfect match because, according to Nithya and Dev past, Dev was her best friend, they shared everything I mean they both knew inside out of each other.
He was perfect match, because...

1. He takes care of her family...( every girl wish that from husband)
2. He treats her sister as angle, will do anything to make her smile...
3. He always there to protect you from any trouble in life...
4. They were best friends, man should be a friend before husband... Then life will be wonderful...
5. He never had any problem with her poverty...
6. Always respected her self respect ... Encareged her to achieve her dream( buying house, if he wished, he could financially supported her...)

In point Of Durga... Really am not able to clarify her POV... She is totally moved on as Durga, she is no longer Nithya ... Still she has a part of her soul is Nithya. Witch can make her to think to marry Dev...

Marry a person who loves you, than whom you love you...

Still Durga dreams about Dev recognising her as Nithya... It means she to wish to get paired with Dev in her subconscious mind...

He is the only person left from her past other than payal(right now she herself need a support)

If I am to look for logic in a show, I would say Dev- Durga story should have given a little more time and scenes to make it look like a real love story. Dev should have been there from the first episode.( Let him be in the US when the trail was on but after 2 years he should have been in the story)
Because of this the whole character sketch of Dev is difficult to understand and therefore his relationship status with Nitya is also a complicated one.

Nitya never loved Dev. Unlike man, woman are never confused about their loved ones. It was a true friendship from all sides. She therefore gifted a pendant and never expected to have her own picture in that pendant . Dev on the other hand always loved Nitya. Again, now Nitya as Durga has learnt how muh Dev loved her all this while and therefore she has fallen for Dev. I can never relate to this 'dil hi dil mein ' wala pyar.

As for childhood friends as lovers, I would not comment much. For me my husband can be my friend but my friend cannot be my husband.😆 I wonder how can one say, 'I love you' to one's best friend🤢

If things were normal and Dev confessed his love for Nithya and she also reciprocates, I really wonder if Dev would have had the guts to marry her despite all the opposition from his family.
I dont think Suchitra would also have said yes to this alliance as she seems to care for Rajnath and his family more.

But since things were not normal and Nithya's family was wiped out due to Payal's incident and thanks to the ruthless Goenkas, is Dev still the Mr.Right for Nithya.

He knew something had happened to Payal and Nithya and his family was not sharing any information about this. Even if he assumed things were normal back home, he was okay with Nithya not contacting him for the last two years. But here he was well aware that something happened to Nithya. It did not come as shock to him after two years.
Yes, he was having Visa problems. But why did he not approach his friends - Sonali and Gautam to enquire about Nithya and Payal. He must have heard of the death of their parents. And he never doubted that his uncle's family were so dangerous that they might harm Gautam or Sonali or any of his friends.

After coming back, he directly confronted Shaurya. But when his family got offended and his mother admonished him, he chose to get the information through RTI and when again his family found out, he gave back the RTI files but never tried to find out about the people who testified against Payal .

He was then introduced to Durga and somewhere in his subconscious, he felt that she was like Nithya and he found her as an enigma and felt in his heart that if he finds out who Durga really is, he might find his Nithya. Its more of a gut feeling and an intuition rather than a logical analysis.

Coming to finding about Payal, he very well knows that the truck accident was a murder attempt on him and he and Gautam luckily survived. Though he does not connect this to his uncle's family, he realizes that this could have been made by any person involved in the case as many top people were involved. He feared for Gautam's life and sent him away. But he should have been surprised that just for trying to find out the truth his life was put to danger. He also knew that the prime witness from Payal's side, Divya and her father Bagchi went missing. Nitya, Divya, Mr.Bagchi all the people who supported Payal were missing. But he never tried to analyze who could be behind these people's disappearance. He may not believe his family but it has to be someone from the people involved in the case.

So When Durga took him to Payal and he knew she made a good progress in her recovery, was it difficult to guess that Payal's life would also be in danger if people came to know that she was recovering.

Yes, he thought he would get some clue from Nithya's diary and was shocked to find the important pages missing. But what did he supposed to find out from them. That Nithya would write down where she was going or if she would say all the people who testified against Payal were lying. If he believed Payal, then its obvious that they were lying. He was not depending on that diary till he came to know that Durga had it.

Then he goes to the place where Payal had undergone her initial treatment. Perhaps he thought that he might get Nithya's whereabouts if she was the one who got Payal admitted. Instead he only manages to get the case file. So from finding Nithya, he moved off to find what was Payal's mental problem. What did he expect,if Payal was genuinely mad and her treatment correct? But then did he suspect anything else.
Luckily for him, he found out that the file was altered and was made recently to deceive anyone. So atleast at this point of time, he should realize that people are keeping an eye on those trying to find out about Payal and trying to divert their attention.

And immediately after that Payal was attacked and has a total relapse. Yet he does not suspect anyone and only want to find out things about Durga and why she is marrying Shaurya esp when she cares about Payal so much. It may be a gut feeling again that Durga is somehow connected to Nithya.

Sakshi also had this gut feeling, this intuition all the time when people from Payal's case got exposed even in different incidents. But she was always trying to analyse things logically.

But Dev never tried to put one and one together. Agreed there was a lot of disturbing events in the family occurring within a short interval of time - Like he getting shot, Shaurya's suicide attempt on Durga's engagement, Durga confessing her love and Durga Shaurya getting engaged and marriage fixed with in a couple of weeks time, Payal getting attacked, and now Shaurya's attack.

But these events were equally disturbing Sakshi, Yet she never deterred or got confused but was trying to find ways to get to know about Durga or keep Durga away from Shaurya.
Agreed Dev cannot think to the level of Sakshi, but he cannot stay where he is. He has to move to a higher level.

He should tell himself on what he wants -

1. Fact about Payal -
What happened to Payal and who were responsible for it (assuming he still does not believe it is his cousin's family) ?

And what precautions he would take so that either his or Payal's life is not put to danger (an accident was set up to kill him and he knew that and Payal's medical records were faked up)

2.Finding Nithya -
What happened to Nithya and where she could be right now, He has to try asking people who knew her and who might have seen her last. Payal is in no condition to give him any information.

3.Solving mystery of Durga -
Why does he have this gut feeling of Durga that she does have some mystery around her which might lead him to Nithya. Mere confrontation or searching her house is not enough.

So Dev has to ponder over the three things and decide what he wants as a priority and then try to focus on how to get the facts while taking precautions. He feels that he has to know about Durga before her marriage to Shaurya else he might have to go back to USA.

So is it only Durga for whom he is staying back. What if Durga gets married to Shaurya, it changes nothing when it comes to Payal or Nithya. If not for Durga, he should be staying back to find out the facts about them.

But Dev really is not clear what he wants and he confuses himself by asking the same questions again and again.

Dev is definitely a straight forward person, good at heart and an ideal partner. But that is only when everything around is well and normal.

But if things go array, not doubting his good intentions, is he smart enough to be depended and looked upon to set things right?

This would be a question even if nothing happened to Payal and his family had objections to his marriage with Nithya.

Beautifully said and written. 👏 Too good.
That is my point too. I doubt he could have married Nitya even if Payal was not raped. I mean Suchitra would have allowed a driver's daughter in her house and then Dev would go against his mother's wishes doesn't seem to be possibility.

What else does makes him a perfect match. He is a good guy agreed but good match for Nitya ? I doubt.

Yes, Dev might have been a perfect husband to Durga , the daughter (if she were the real one without any past) of Dr. Dayal Thakur.

But for Nithya, the daughter of their car driver - it would always be a question.

@dey Dev is a perfect son in law material. You know the nice guy. The guy whom you can drag in front of your father and say " Papa I would love to marry him " and Papa will be on cloud nine. Unlike poor Raj who had to convince Simran's dad to get her hand in marriage a person like Dev will not have to do that.
His key qualities to be a perfect son in law material in marriage market includes a powerful family name, well qualified, looks pretty decent, have clean habits( I mean no smoking, drinking), religious, obedient and respectful.
But if you ask me whether I would want to marry a guy like Dev, well the answer would be big " No". Seriously not my type. Marrying him means you are ending up with someone who is emotionally immature. He is tied to his mother's apron strings and his wife will have a tough time balancing him and his mom.
Now coming to Nithya. I somewhere feel she had more than platonic feelings for him even then. But Nithya was a practical girl and valued her self respect a lot. In many FBs I have felt that her bossy attitude towards Dev is to hide her true feelings for him. She might have felt if her feelings came out , it will not be good. She can be called a gold digger who trapped the rich boy which she would never want. So she just let it like that and with her attitude ensured he doesn't propose her either. Even if she had accepted theirs wont be a happy marriage. Even if he marries her opposing Suchitra he will never be able to give her self respect in his family as he is unable to stand upto EB of his mother and his family.
Now coming to Durga. Is Dev an ideal husband for her. Dev is far too straight forward. Durga needs a strong ally. Dev though is a nice young man is he strong enough to protect her from the wrath of his family. He is yet to prove this point. She can get respect maybe as Durga Dev Goenka, but can he give her respect with her real identity Nithya Dev Goenka. In the present scenario I doubt. He will be always her emotional weakness and can complicate things. He can be a perfect match to her only if he is fired up against his family as much as she is.
For that 2 things have to happen. One that stupid email sender has to be Suchitra or Suchitra is connected to it one way or other. Arnab might have been killed by Rajnath.

Dev is not at all a perfect match for Nithya/Durga. He is a good person and probably 'seems' perfect when pitted against Shaurya and his friends.

But he won't be a perfect match for Durga/Nithya because:
- He doesn't seem much bothered about Nithya's sister who is there in front of him (and all this is even more surprising because Payal was not a stranger to him but a close friend as shown in the fbs). So if they do get married, Dev might never really care for Durga's family (Payal or Dayal).

- Marrying Dev means having to (atleast at this point in the story) keep ties with the other Goenkas and probably stay in the Goenka house; considering that Dev and Suchitra are more concerned about sticking with the other Goenkas. So not a nice ordeal for Durga to have to liaise with the family who ruined hers. I still don't understand on what basis did Dr. Thakur had wanted Durga to move on with Dev considering this.

- Dev's inability to take a stand against Goenkas in this rape case, his unwillingness to even consider that the Goenkas are the culprits when he has had many clues and the easiness with which he get shushed by Suchitra... none of these make him 'perfect' for Durga - be it now or in a future married life.

one more thing dey. Dev might not be an ideal husband for Durga now. But Durga at present is an ideal wife for him. The way she handled him yesterday just prove that. When she held her hand she shouted at him first, but when he shouted back, the calmness with which she told the Dev I know does not behave like this shows how well she can handle his emotional aspects in the correct manner.
The match will survive for sure with Durga/Nithya's acceptance of his limitations, handling his emotional immaturity in a sensitive way and he can be transformed to an understanding husband for her in future.

For me Dev is a big no...
He lacks ability to think conclusively and take actions and most of the time seems confused. This is what never allowed him to admit his feelings to Nitya,( if he loved her). Second, he sees what others ( including his mum) show him...hence, no say in his life.
