Kriti Sanon to romance Shahid Kapoor in an upcoming film about white-collar crime.

Mirror was the first to tell you that Shahid Kapoor will be playing a white-collar criminal in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's upcoming film, Farzi (earlier titled Fake). Now, Mirror has learnt that the makers have finalised Kriti Sanon, who was Tiger Shroff's leading lady in Heropanti, to play the female lead.

Revealed our source from the film's unit, "Raj and DK are currently busy with the post-production of Happy Ending. But at the same time, they've started working on the pre-production of Farzi. They recently gave a narration to Kriti and she was bowled over by the script."

It is learnt that the makers were looking for an actress who could pull off the role of a spunky Delhi girl. Several A-listers were considered, but the role finally went to Tiger's girl. "Her character gets embroiled in a major financial racket of which Shahid is the mastermind. The two eventually fall in love. Kriti fit the bill perfectly and is figuring out her dates," the source added.The film goes on floors in December. By then Shahid would have finished a major chunk of Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar, which he is currently filming in Leeds with Alia Bhatt. Farzi will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

Eros International and Raj & DK partner to co-produce FARZI

Eros International Media Ltd ("Eros"), a leading global company in the Indian film entertainment industry today announced it will co-produce films with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's D2R Films, including their next directorial venture FARZI. With this multi-film alliance, the director duos popularly known as Raj & DK make their debut as producers in Hindi film industry. The tie-up signifies a long term association between Eros and D2R Films for future projects with other directors as well.

Speaking on the announcement, Sunil Lulla, Managing Director - Eros International Media Ltd said, "Tying up with Raj and DK enforces our commitment to make more content driven films. They are creative and dynamic duos who have gathered a following for their distinctive style of filmmaking. After collaborating together on GO GOA GONE and our forthcoming HAPPY ENDING, we are excited about FARZI which promises to be very unique and thoroughly entertaining".

Raj & DK added, "FARZI is one of our favorite scripts and we can't wait to work on it. Our experience with Eros has been wonderful for the last two films. They have always supported our vision and we are very happy to partner with them to produce films together."

After making a zomcom, followed by a romcom, the directors are changing genres again. FARZI will be a big canvas crime-thriller-drama and like all Raj & DK films, will have their signature dose of humour. Besides Shahid Kapoor in the lead, the versatile actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also been signed up for the film.

They co-wrote the script with their longtime partner Sita Menon and debutant, Suman Kumar. The film will go on floors end of this year and will primarily be shot in India.

Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K's upcoming directorial venture Farzi.The movie will be co-produced by Eros International Media Ltd and Raj and DK's D2R Films. This marks the director duos debut as producers. The duo, who have earlier delivered films like Shor in the City and Go Goa Gone, will begin shooting for the film by the end of the year. "Farzi is basically a crime thriller drama. As it is set in India, most of it will be shot here as well," said director Krishna D.K. The duo, who have a following for their dark style of film-making, said that the film will be of a similar genre. "Unlike Shor in the City that captured the chaos and absurdity of Mumbai, Farzi can be called city on steroids'. It is a big canvas film filled with high energy," added the director.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui to chase Shahid Kapoor

Mirror was the first to report that director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK had finalised Shahid Kapoor for a film then titled 'Fake', now Farzi ( April 21, 2014 ) and Kriti Sanon would be romancing him (September 11 ). Now, we have learnt that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been signed for a pivotal role and will be seen chasing Shahid onscreen.

Revealed a source from the film's production, "Shahid masterminds a financial racket that shocks the nation and to catch him, the government brings in Nawaz, a no-nonsense guy who heads an undercover task force deployed to capture this con-man on the run."

According to the source, the makers were keen to pair Nawaz and Shahid as they have very different styles of acting. Both are engaged in a cat-and-mouse game and the dynamics gets complex as the narrative progresses. Interestingly, in his last film, Kick, Nawaz hunted down Devil Salman Khan.

Well, the chase continues... Farzi goes on the floors in November and the film will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.
