Reasons not to miss Kisna

By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 20th, 2005 - 1245 hrs IST

Subhash Ghai's magnanimous venture Kisna hits the screens worldwide tomorrow. And this is a film any movie-lover cannot afford to miss. Any person who has the slightest of insight into Bollywood will undoubtedly agree with us on this. However if you would still like to know the reasons… here we go.

Bollywood Showman Subhash Ghai handles the director's seat after a hiatus of three years with Kisna. Though the filmmaker has been operating as a prolific producer all this while (Aitraaz, Joggers Park, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah), his last directorial venture was way back in 2001 (Yaadein). Moreover this is the first time that Ghai attempts a period film. The story moves across the vast North Indian plains highlighting the different cultures and colors that make India unique. Ace cameraman Ashok Mehta has captured the spectacular settings and locations, from the Himalayan Mountains to the spiritual town of Haridwar with remarkable lan.

With Kisna, Ghai continues his fascination of introducing new talents into Bollywood (It may be recollected that Ghai had given a stunning start to the careers of Jackie Shroff, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Chaudhary). In Kisna he introduces the immaculate Indian beauty - Isha Shravani and gives the first big break to the foreign actress - Antonio Bernath.

The film boasts of a rich musical score by maestros A.R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar. The classic composition is already a craze throughout the nation and even further. A.R.Rehman has also recorded a special English number for the international version. Add to it an item number in the form of a qawalli by the gorgeous Sushmita Sen! Now this is an audiovisual treat.

Last but not the least, Kisna would be the last big release of late Mr. Amrish Puri. Puri shared a great rapport with Subhash Ghai and featured in almost all his films. Even in Kisna, the legendary artist has an interesting role.

So book you tickets for this cinematic treat well in advance. Kisna essentially is a film for the big screen.
