I don't think Sushant meant to say that he would not do a romantic film or even a masala film, I guess what he was trying to say that he would not do a film with the usual trappings. He wants to keep away from the formula films, and rather wants to work in ones with unusual stories or that have something new to show. Shuddh Desi Romance might be a movie of the Romantic Comedy genre but it was not a run-of-the-mill kind of film neither was his role that of a typical hero.
Anyway, he is smart enough to even add: "So far I've got the roles I wanted. If in the future that changes then we'll see." Its good that he added this as well as one should 'never say never'.
A lot of people say that Sushant does not have interpersonal skills to make it in such a cut-throat competition like in Bollywood, but I guess he has got the roles that he has so far because probably the filmmakers who have signed him were impressed by his intelligence and the way he approaches films and roles. Even if he is not the most brilliant actor out there, he is definitely very earnest about his work. And that's a brilliant quality IMO.
Good thing that he realizes that fame can go as easily as it comes and that's why even now he is closest to people who were there with him from the beginning.
Having followed him and Ankita for quite a while, I am pretty confident that they are for keeps. I don't think they even need to go through the rituals because as Sushant said, they are wedded in their hearts. Buying a house together is a big step for any couple.
I liked the last answer the most: No, after doing up the home we had no money left. But the minute I entered our new home with Ankita the house was warmed.
