breaking all etiquettes of a society

How can the Mother-in-law sit next to the chauffeur while Adbhoot sits at the back? When there is a lady, she is supposed to be seated at the back and the gentleman should sit next to the lady. Either way, she should not be seated next to the chauffeur. If she needs to be seated by herself because of her social stature, then the gentleman should sit at the front.

The way I grew up, we never conspired with a servant to mix poison or sleeping pills in another family member's drinks. Any such behaviour is unimaginable. Servants are employees and nothing is ever discussed with them. Given the social structure of our part of the world, it's absolutely impossible for the lady of the house to be involved in such conspiracy with the "servant".

Where do these "script writers" come from? Which social class do they belong to? This is another proof that these serials are not about the Indian society that we all come from. These are stories of a different culture and a different society where all forms of immorality reign and dictate the behaviour of its people. This is why sisters like Pia exist, institution of marriage is insulted, family values are shattered, and all things sacred and precious to the Eastern value system are sacrificed in the name of "literary creation". This is not "creation" and these are not "creatives" - this is "pulp fiction" and these are tasteless d-rated literature students who got nowhere with their lack of talent but somehow came to know Ekta Kapoor and managed to be seen favourably by her to land a job in the Balaji Telefilms. These guys should be ashamed of themselves for writing such filth.

KS is appalling and disgusting. Today is the independence day of USA, I too will liberate myself from the addiction of KS.

Raka,

Could not agree with you more. MIL actually supporting her crazy SIL to ruin another girls family just because he has taken a fancy to her. Jigz a sister ready to ruin her brother for money. Pia a black mark against sisterhood. Less said about the institution of maarige the better, 1.5, 2, and on and on it goes.

You probably are right about time to break the addiction to KS.

"Servants are employees and nothing is ever discussed with them."
Really?? Huh.. I was always under the impression that they are normal people and it is possible to strike up a friendship or any other relationship with them..

Yes REALLY. Of course they are normal people, but there's a pronounced class system in the Indian society (at least the Indian society that I come from) with very specific norms against the mixing of classes and the society treats "relationships" with the servants as a taboo.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or you are just unaware, but feel free to check with your family members who were born and raised in India.

Well said my dear. I quite agree with you, although I still sit at times and watch KS, hoping to see some change, and in a good way.
I am from Trinidad and our culture comes from India as our forefathers came from India as indentured Labourers.
We are a people always eager to know more about India in anyway possible and when I see things like a younger sister stealing her didi's husband, it makes me wonder what kind of values do we have...or maybe we are allowing the western world to influence us so much that sooner or later we will have no family value.
I see things in these serials that shcok me, but I tell myself that is is only a silly TV show, but then again you look at it, you see the nice sarees and jewelery etc etc..so you look at it and take the nice and good things but then they are the negative side, which scares you as our society today we rather take the bad from something than see the good.Again what good is there when in a serials where you can cheat your sister or brother and as you so nicely put it, conspire with the hired help.
Sad, sad, now I am not condemming the actors as that is their job and they are good at it, but it makes you mad to know that there are so many negatives things in these serials....
Thanks for your contribution.

Trini Beauty and Meghna,
I do believe that our unconditional loyalty to KS is part of the reason why such filth is dished out to the audience. Some of us realize that the storyline and the humor are totally beneath us and do realize the gradual degradation of KS, yet we continue to watch it. I think the audience in India has the same issue - they watch KS for RK, PD, AK, AS, Raveer, and so on, some even for the fashion and jewelry, and one at least (masterp1 ;) for Pia (Pain In the Asteroids) and they cannot break free of their addiction. Ekta translates that as audience support because no matter what, the TRPs do not fall below 10. So, the cycle of crap continues...

Unless the Indian audience can make a difference by fallen TRPs, nothing would improve in KS. That's just my opinion.

raka, well said.... i have told something like this long back... but u brought it short but strong... a woman divorce her man and gone to die (?)... then after 5 yrs... i mean long 5 yrs... she came back to claim him when he moved on from the pain she caused to him by the seperation and a child is there to call him papa... how could she with which rule she sat with ranveer as his wife to attend the pooja? well ekat knows negativity than positive side of the life.. always negative side is weighed in her dramas... the same story in different faces and makeups flavoured with same masala she bring in with no regret to make money at the cost of such valued society norms... mostly these people doesn't know about it... since they live in celluloid world...

there is still to add... killing the child without husband's consent or knowledge... using drugs... people think that such drugs are available or such itching powder is harmless to do some pranks... but at time an ant bite may cause death as allergy... its all dangerous ideas which may be given to wrong people

house holds are loosing many things... i think it is time to channels view things in a better way...

KS is similar to Passions(american soap)

nothing makes sense
stories are pulled out of the a$$
and you feel as if you have lost 10 IQ pts after watching it

I havent watched it in months -- maybe once every 2 weeks I let me IQ fall
