Yesterday I was watching a show called "Family Secrets" and it was about an Indian Prince who was gay and was later disowned by his mother who was the queen. I didn't get to watch the whole show, just the last 20-25 mins of it, but I felt really really bad for the guy. I am not too sure since I missed the first half of it, but I think the Queen forced her son to get married, but he later divorced his wife and then realized that he was gay.
He said that when he was younger he was attracted to the boy that his mom financially supported, who was from the orphanage, and that he and the boy would usually experiment with each other's bodies.
What I found that was really interesting, yet very angering was the fact that if your are proven to be gay in India then you can face up to 10 years in jail. And not only that but they also said that 80% of the gays in India are living double lives, where they are married to a woman, but also have relationships with men.
In my personal opinion, I think that first of all there should be no law that should punish a homosexual or a gay, because it's not fair that they are not given the right to choose how and with whom they want to live. Also because of this 10 year punishment, many of the gays are forced to marry women, and end up involving themselves in an unwanted relationship and also ruin a woman's life. I mean no woman would want to be married to a guy whose gay or a homosexual (not that I am saying theres anything wrong in being one)
So the debate is:
Is it right for India to have a law that punished gays, just because they choose to be different than what is expected of them?
And what you think about the 80% stat of gay men marrying straight women.
